Watched a movie called Primer which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance...-  all dialog driven low budget movie about time paradox.  Kinda like the Matrix with no action, no famous actors, no special effects, no hot chicks...  amazing that I enjoyed it.

A good friend of mine runs a theater which shows independent films.  He was raving about how good Primer was, but i didnt' get a chance to catch it.  Thanks for the reminder.  I'd like to see it.

Saw Batman Begins last night. Made almost no effort to mesh itself with the story from the original (Tim Burton) movie (someone other than Jack --> Joker kills his parents, Gordon isn't commishioner at the end but still asks him to go find a 'new' criminal, the joker, Scarecrow gets away seemingly leaving a sequel open...)

Having said all of that, I still freaking loved it. As a movie on its own it was awesome. Bale was good, Oldman was good, Morgan Freeman was good, Liam Neeson was good, Katie Holmes' nipples were hard which almost made up for her acting... lots of fun.

from IMDB

QuoteChristian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman have signed to star in a second Batman movie, but love interest Katie Holmes has been dropped. Movie bosses are thrilled with the response to Batman Begins - it took $46.9 million in its first weekend at the US box office - and have snapped up the film's stars for a sequel. Bale as Batman was the first to put pen to paper, followed by Caine as butler Alfred and Freeman as Bruce Wayne's business associate Lucius Fox. But Holmes won't reprise her role as district attorney Rachel Dawes - reportedly because Warner Bros is angry her engagement to Tom Cruise has stolen media attention away from the movie. A source tells Pagesix.Com, "Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman." Adding of Holmes, "She won't be in the sequel... the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress. Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the Joker rather than Katie and Tom."

:-D

So much for my 'impossible sequel' theory.

What about Oldman?  He really is perfect as Lt Gordon.

The only thing I didn't like about the new Batman movie was the fight scene shakey-cam. I love the idea of Alfred with a personality.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Just an FYI...James Earl Jones is sick with pneumonia.  :'(  Sick enough that the producers of the Broadway show "On Golden Pond" had to close the show. He isn't expected to recover until August.

I just hope he recovers.

Watched House of Flaying Daggers. It was good, not great. These large scale sweeping martial arts dramas are all sort of running together and while I think that Zhang Ziyi is hot, enough already! Is she the only japanese actress who knows how to matrix kick or something?
