Rome

The first four or five years were fantastic.  They ran out of stories and the show repeatedly went down the damsel in distress path with Scully, but it was really excellent in terms of story-telling.

There's maybe a dozen that are all-time classics (Peter Boyle's episode is one of the best hours of tv ever) but the last two seasons were trash.

The creature of the week episodes are the GOAT ones for me tbh. But I also ahven't watched every single episode so I forget a lot of the overarching alien plot. I do remember some of the alien episodes playing out like MOTW ones anyway so they were still cool.

The Toombs episode and the human fluke one are still burned into my brain.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I remember being really into that show for a year or so in grade school or junior high but I can't remember a single storyline other than cigarette man.

Unless he comes back (killed by an escalator) I just watched the second part of the Tooms storyline. The actor is Doug Hutchinson the guy who married the 16 year old girl with the fake tits.

My only issue is everything is supernatural. I wish they'd tote the line a little more with plausible explanations.

The creature of the week storytelling probably wouldn't go over well with todays audiences who would just want to get to the main alien storyline and call anything else filler episodes. Show is really good so far.

its been so long so I dont know exactly when it fell off but you probably dont need to go past season 7??? the standalone non alien conspiracy episodes of the show in the first five seasons are some of the best shtein ive ever seen on any medium

even the alien shtein was tolerable because it was 99% conspiracy and 1% alien...you never saw an alien...it wasnt like they were flying down in spaceships and then running around earth ripping peoples throats out like on some war of the worlds shtein

none of you will watch it cause its 13 episodes of subtitles but i just finished alba

a spanish tv show about a girl who gets gang raped and all that follows...its pretty over the top and campy at points but its really fun and super entertaining

i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Munson

Another XFiles creature of the week one burned into my brain still was when they were in the forest and there was some microorganism eating people or some shtein.

Watched that the other day it's called Darkness Falls. The guy they meet in the cabin who ultimately saves them is Titus Welliver aka the Man in black from Lost...he was in the Mandalorian briefly and a bunch of other stuff.

Munson

Ooooooh yeah that guy haha. I def remember him now.

I actually found an episode from like season 6 plying on a random channel last night and I tuned in and one of the characters was being played by Roy from The Office/Mare's ex husband in Mare of Easttown

gang rape + camp + fun entertainment

what a lineup
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Warner is ditching HBO Max for Discovery+, and cutting all the HBO Max original programming. As I understand it, the HBO Max interface is beloved but the back end is such a nightmare of garbage code that it isn't even worth fixing. Discovery+ isn't great, but it isn't the worst interface I've ever seen.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Seems like I am in the minority but I watched a couple episodes of Bear and not quite sure I get the hype.  It's not bad but...they're working.  And he has some mental / family issues.  That's like almost everyone in the service industry lol.  I think I'm on ep 5 or 6 so maybe it'll pick up?

Didn't think it was great but halfway decent ending though some of it didn't make sense.

The Old Man - Lithgow and Jeff Bridges. Decent plot, some good acting. Probably be a season 2

PhillyPhreak54

Better Call Saul was fantastic.
