They needed a corner and got a corner. They didn't want to give Matthews a contract for a number of reasons and don't have to. I'm cool with it. They REALLY needed a corner and any combinations of guys can make up for what Matthews would have done this year.

They freed up $5 mil and got a player that's probably better than who they would have drafted with that third round pick. Now their starting receivers are good for 65 and 40 receptions each, so I really hope Zach Ertz doesn't get hurt this season.

I think Zach Ertz is going to have a breakout year. I'm basing this on 2017 being the first season since he came into the league that everyone and their brother haven't made the startling prediction that this would be his breakout year. Also, Agholor sucks.

Getting drafted by Buffalo has to be a massive disappointment for almost every player. There's a lot more to do than in Green Bay, but at least the Packers have the winning culture, the iconic stadium, the uniforms, and the history that someone who's dedicated his life to football should be able to appreciate on some level. Buffalo is just a butthole.

I do personally prefer it to some of the southern cities in the league, but I'm not a 21 year old black kid who grew up and/or went to school in the south.

my trade hot take

-said i only trade matthews for a starting cb. they got a starting cb.
-remember their cb's were the worst in the league, by far. had to do something to get an nfl caliber starter.
-matthews is a good player. not great. his production can be replaced by agholor, burton, pumphrey, hollins. none of those guys are as good as matthews, sure. but you gotta give something up to get something.
-they werent resigning matthews. let this be clear. they traded him and got a player with 2 years left on his deal in a significant position of need.

feel like this is a win for buffalo as well. they dont value cb and got a 3rd rounder back. i really dont think they care about matthews too much. they needed something to get them through WR with watkins traded.

never like parting with a 3rd but they have 3 4ths and kelce, kendricks, some others can be dealt to bring back some picks. howie has his many flaws but feel like he can get back a 2nd or a 3rd by april.
