Stupid trade

They either don't bring Alshon back or he gets hurt/suspended after signing a big deal and now they're all IN on Agholor

Calm down IGY

matthews is easily replaceable.....finding good corners is not so easy as the eagles have proved for the better part of a decade

plus the money matthews is going to want will be way too high for his talent

i dont like giving up the third cause now they dont pick in the second or third rounds next year (they do have three 4ths)...but player for player this is an obvious howie WIN

Agreed overall, but I'm not too concerned about them not having a 2nd or 3rd rounder right now. I can't imagine they go into the draft without having acquired a pick in at least 1 of those rounds. Plenty of time to address that.

This is definitely a good trade for the here and now.

not even just the here and now....for the future too...darby is 23 and under control for two more years

Also guess this means they're going all in on Agholor. I'd be really excited if it were Ozzie or Hoodie making this call, but Howie and Pederson doesn't give me a warm fuzzy.

not at all with re: to agholar....they are going all in on their wr depth....could be agholar could be hollins could be gibson or johnson or could be next offseason if somehow none of those guys show anything this year

as for the evaluation aspect my concern is that they get darby right...not so much whether agholar or anyone else is a replacement for matthews

another really interesting thing to me about this deal is that wentz has an almost uncomfortable man crush on matthews....and howie didnt even blink as far as acquiescing to his golden boy qb

QB Eagles

How are they now "all in" on a guy still on his rookie contract who already started most games in his first two years? If he sucks in the slot, he'll be gone after the season. Big deal.

The corners they had going into the preseason were absolutely going to cost them games. I don't think swapping out Matthews for Agholor will.

Darby did fall off a lot last year, which is something to keep an eye on.

they have known each other for 14 months

Quote@cj_wentz Crazy part of this business. Jordan matthews you'll always be my boy both on & off the field. Couldn't ask for a better teammate & friend.

I'll clarify:  By trading Matthews, this puts Agholor in control of the #3 spot...for now.  For a guy with head/confidence issues, this would hopefully be an enormous boost to the ego knowing that he currently has that job and doesn't have to outplay a decent veteran to get more snaps.

Will this result in a really good Agholor or just a repeat of last year?  Time will tell.

When you're like 23 years old, 14 months is farging forever.

This is BY FAR my favorite part:

QuoteWhat has always sucked: Jeff Lurie is the exact kind of billionaire liberal fundraiser raconteur that deserves to be sealed in an oil tanker. He can hang with Spielberg and talk a big game about putting a nacho compost pile in the corner of the Linc, but he's just as much of a humorless, dictatorial bastich as the rest of them

FWIW I'm listening to some show on Sirius, the host was talking about Darby, he said he's a hell of a player and the Rams downgraded big time by replacing him with Gaines.

i had no idea he was second in RDPOY

supposedly he fell off last year for whatever reason

also not that i believe this because i dont believe systems preclude corners from being successful but mcclane says he does not fit schwartzs system at all

Doesn't make sense.  Schwartz was the coach when Darby had a great year.  I don't think Schwartz would have brought him in if he wasn't worth.  Sucks to lose the third round pick, but a good trade.  I think IGY is right on point that they like their WR depth and they suck at CB.
