I've been on the waiting list for a long time.

However, this is Economics 101.  Supply and demand.  If they continue to have a product that can sell at insane profit, why would they accept less profit just to be "nice" to people like me that would love the chance to actually buy a normal package of season tickets?  It doesn't make any sense.

Until they stop putting asses in the seats, how can you possibly justify asking them to behave any differently?

Since the Linc opened, the Eagles have been cancelling the account of serious rule breakers. Instead of them calling people at the top of the waiting list, they keep those seats and sell the tickets with their Tailgate package. It's another way they make money.

The waiting list is probably about 75,000. Last year they called less than 15 people to be an Upper Level, non-SBL account holder. At that rate, 4000 years is not an exaggeration.

This surprises me in the slightest..in that I figured they went straight to razorgator.

Im sure of two things,

1.)  I will die before the Eagles win a Superbowl

2.)  My grandkids will die before season tickets become available

so basically as long as they can farg the fans they should...or at least shouldnt be questioned on it?

they started a highly (self) publicized waiting list for fans to join in order to get tickets...and then when tickets become available they instead keep them for themselves and sell them to a small segment of fans that can afford a tailgate package and who may not even be on said wait list...

and your answer to that is supply and demand?
dont you think supply/demand and fairness to your fans can co exist?
or is "maximizing profits" the way they should go

I'm just asking you to explain to me why they should behave any differently if people continue to pay their season ticket bills religiously and every game is sold out at the highest possible price.

Basically, your whole argument is that they should strive to be "nice" or "fair."  Much like the on-the-field game of football, the business of football doesn't work that way.  You should know, being a season ticket holder of the Eagles but living in skins territory, but instead you choose to bitch and moan about their tactics.

Again, until they have trouble maximizing their profit with these tailgate packages and ticket broker deals, what is their actual motivation to behaving any differently?

I am not exonerating the eagles in any of this...but this is just the way of the NFL.

Look at the $20,000 psl's in dallas. And in the meadowlands, both Giants and Jets fans have to pay the same PSLs...in every seat in the stadium i believe.

It's not going to change until the NFL collapses in on itself, and is forced to bring down prices and salaries...fans will eventually lose interest.

The eagles HAVE to maximize their profits because everyone else is too. They, as a business, need to make money. They more they have to pay their players, the more money they will have to make to pay those players and continue to make a profit. Jerseys were $45 10 years go.

The nfl gets their money from the fans, and as the nfl...the eagles...opperating expenses rise, they will need to go to their well to get more of it.

As long as the general fan base, or the corporate fan base continues to pay the prices, the nfl will continue to push the envelope on what it costs to go to the games.

I've been on the waiting list since the end of the 2001 season. I don't expect to ever be called for them.

ff i understand is a big business minion and wing youre a pro front office zealout but even you guys cant be on that side of the fence this time...no matter how hard you try there is no justification or defense for this

this isnt about prices...its about fairness

if the eagles next year raised all seat prices by $500 each i would be infuriated but it would at least be up front and on the level...you either pay it or you dont...but what they are doing to the fans on the "waiting list" is just plain wrong

if you are not going to make tickets that become avaliable to your waiting list then dont start a waiting list and let the general public know that tickets that come free will not be offered to you at their face value but will instead be taken by the team and repriced in a tailgating package

the eagles shouldnt change in mid game and be like oops sorry everyone we know there are corporations and law firms out there that are willing to pay triple the amount for these seats so guess youre sol

not that it would make it any less wrong but what other teams are doing this?

also do you really think it makes the eagles more competitive in the market place by selling a few tailgating packages for 300 instead of selling the seats to a fan on the waiting list for 80...if they need money that badly then they shouldnt own a team

I never said i was on the side of the ownership on this.

There is a difference between agreeing with it, and understanding why they do it. You don't have to feel both sides of it.

lol @ pro front office zealot

That's the point......

Why bother having a waiting list if the team has no intentions of ever actually contacting anyone from that list.  If they want to take available season tickets and sell them as part of the tailgating package, fine.  Annoying as it may be, I can't hate on them for wanting to maximize profits.  But quit dangling carrots in front of the fans by having this list that goes no where.

This tactic specifically? who knows?

But how many teams screw the fans out of money and opportunity in order to turn a higher profit? I would say all of them.

2 seats @ $65 @ 10 games = $1300
2 seats @ $150 @ 8 games = $2400

If they have say...1000 of those seats .... then your looking at $650,000 for normal season tickets vs $1.2M for the tailgate packages.

I think the government should intervene to stop the owners from turning maximum profit.  We could make NFL Football a subsidiary of the U.S. Military and re-institute the selective service to force players to play at more reasonable salaries*.  Additionally, broadcast rights agreements would be thrown out, and anyone and everyone could watch or listen to the game without making any profit off of it.

*An added bonus of this is that they could then contribute to a Roth IRA!

You don't have to agree.  The fact that you can even articulate and understand the opinion that differs from IGY/WIP on this proves that you are a zealot.  At least you're not a zealout.  That would be REALLY serious stuff.
