 I had 10 Cubans I bought when I was overseas that I had completely forgot about. A few months ago I came across them but they were dried out. My old roommate gave me a humidor and now they're good again. Just wanted to share my excitement.

Also, the g/f bought me a bottle of 12 year old Dewars. I highly recommend it if you like Scotch.

FYI Scotch is the same exact thing as Whiskey, it's just made in Scotland. (read through this thread and it didn't look like that was general knowledge)

That is incredibly innacurate.

Scotch Whisky, is no where near the same as Whiskey.

my dad just gave me a bottle of johnny walker black....i dont drink or know anything about scotch and probably will gift it to someone....is it good as far as scotches go?

it's alright.  it's a blended scotch (rather than single malt, which is from one distillery only.  single malts are very distinct because they are not tempered in any way..if it's a very peaty scotch, then you get peat full on, for example).  the red is 3 years aged, black is 12 (I think), gold is 18, green and blue are blends which include much older stock (but also some fairly young)

Wingpan is wrong, by the way.  the only diff. between scotch and irish whiskey is where it's from.  now, there is a lot of difference between the grain grown in ireland and in scotland, etc...but whisky is whiskey is whiskey.  they spell it different, and get pissy about it, but farg them.

scotch is like champagne, cognac, or bourbon...you can make the same shtein but if you do it outside of champagne, cognac, etc, then it's not champagne/scotch/cognac.  sparkling wine is essentially champagne..but it doesn't have the restrictions on quality that hte champagne region enforces (percentage of grapes from each harvest allowed to be used, etc.)

I'm in the wine & spirits trade, know a little bit.

can't stand brown spirits myself.
