I looked him up on IMDB and discovered I've seen 1 movie he's been in (Haywire).  And he was the second or third banana in that.

Seriously, what an awful resume'.

Just did the same and the only one I've seen is GI Joe and I have still have no idea who he is because that movie was so forgettable.

That's because you're adamant with your hatred towards Fight Club, a movie that helped define a generation. His role as Tyler Durden was spot on. But hate on.

a generation that has attempted to take down this country with extreme doucheiness

actually he was borderline great in 12 monkeys.....i forgot about that movie

but in general hes the definition of average...still i give him credit for hitting his ceiling
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

What's 'doucheiness' with preaching against commercialism, corporations, capitalism, and generally just acting like a man should? The way the movie parallel's the teachings of zen buddhism and the way Pitt portrays Durden are sensational. Tyler Durden is an iconic character and Pitt was spot on with his performance.

I've never seen 12 Monkeys and generally think of Pitt as an average actor, but history will show Fight Club as his best performance.

General_Failure

Some people worship Fight Club. Some people worship Scarface. Some people worship The Big Lebowski. Some people worship Miller's Crossing.

I worship Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon.

The man. The myth. The legend.

spot on with 12 monkeys.  Pitt is really good in that.  He's also pretty damn good in Kalifornia and I thought he was funny in Inglorious Basterds.

Regardless, I was not expecting Tatum to be good in this but he was.  The movie was easily the funniest movie I've seen in the theaters in a while.

oh shtein also forgot about IB....that was his best role...he was validly great in that

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

MDS

wait how did fight club define a generation

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Rome

Why do you encourage him?

Just let him rant, offer an lol and move on.

It's amazing that two people can watch the same movie but come away with two entirely different interpretations. If you think the message the movie portrays is 'self importance' then you're dead wrong.

the movie itself isnt self important the people who think it carries some sort of life changing meaning that only they can understand are the narcissists

the movie is terrible dont get me wrong (and i love fincher to death) but the generation defining fanboys are what put fight club over the top and into the worst movies ever HOF

I thought the movie was very entertaining even though I didn't find any life changing meaning in it and I like to lol at anyone who thinks they did.  The fact that the movie has some sort of douchebag cult following doesn't change my opinion of the actual movie.

That would be like hating the Phillies because of the "awe shucks, get 'em next year Jersey fan."

If I lived my life hating things based solely on how douchey other people are who like the same thing, I don't think I'd like anything except Russell.  Only non-douches like Russell.
