Random Eagles Information Still Not Worthy of a New Thread

I said back when everyone was ripping McNabb that people should recognize him for what he is because once he's gone we will long for a franchise QB again because they're not easily attainable.

We have seen Vick's turnover issues - McNabb never had them. His INT rate was historically low.

Kolb has turned out to be garbage. Foles doesn't look special - he's AJ Feeley at best right now.

Look at how long it takes for teams to replace true franchise guys. Indy may be the only team that I can remember who has done it fairly quick.

Buffalo - still searching
Miami - still searching
Cleveland - still searching
Dallas - still hunting

Cue comments on bedwetter etc but those are the facts - he was a franchise guy. Yeah he didn't win the big one, but he was very very good and always had them in position to win. But now we get to hope for some run of the mill vet to hold it down while burning through draft picks.

ice grillin you

mcnabb was not a franchise qb....and other than the superbowl year (until he puked) was unbearable to watch after about 2002
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Rome

How can anyone reasonably assess Foles with the horseshtein offensive line he's playing behind?

ice grillin you

its not entirely fair but good qb's are going to at a minimum show a skill set that is indicative of a starter.....foles has shown absolutely nothing

lol - thats some strong denial my friend.

Romey - because his decision making sucks? He throws across his body? Makes dumb decisions?

you have mcnabbholm syndrome, J

he wasnt the best qb of all time, but he was better than doug pederson. plus he put them in positions to win! hes good! hes really good!
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Nice creation there - McNabbholm syndrome.

Hey - lets keep hoping for them to sign a middling vet. Alex Smith? Matt Cassell? Matt Hasselbeck?

Or maybe been in the league for awhile but still chilling on a bench Matt Flynn?

Rome

Foles has a good arm and he's reasonable intelligent.  The stupid ass decisions he's been making are the result of his having to run for his farging life.  Plus, how many times have the receivers alligator-armed or flat-out dropped his passes?  I mean, they did the same bullshtein with Vick too, but still... he's got prototypical size and he seems like he has NFL ability to me.  I could be wrong and if a better alternative presented itself I'd be happy if the Eagles got all over that shtein.  Just saying it's preliminary to decide to give the guy half a shot as a starter or at least keep him around as a backup.

MDS

im not sure what youre driving at....that having mcnabb 15 years ago is better than being in this spot now where they have to sign some zesty vet? OK, sure. why not. it is.

ultimately, of course, mcnabb was the same player as smith and hasselbeck are. decent, alright, good at times, bad a times but not nearly good enough to lead their team to a super bowl. and mcnabb had the extra caveat of being a farging Hoyda.

He'll stick around for a couple years, I am sure.

But tell me what his strength is. What does he do exceptionally well?

Decision making? Not showing that
Arm strength? Average
Pocket awareness? Ok
Ad-libbing on broken plays? No

I'm glad we're having this interesting and original conversation about McNabb.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Rome

We're talking about Foles.  I can't wait for his first Chunky Soup commercial, though.  It's gonna be epic.

Eagaholic

I don't think the rest of the team has been Foles' only problem though. I remember in preseason he looked good but had the same near miss ints he was lucky not to give up from staring down his wr. The accuracy problems I think are more likely attributable to the line though. True a lot of great QBs had a bad first 1 or 2 years so who knows. I could see him being good or being a turnover machine if he can't progress.

foles wasnt overly impressive in college

and remember hes a howie pick

QB Eagles

McNabb was a franchise QB, but the years in which he was a good franchise QB who was a legit NFL star were confined to the first half of the decade. That was the window during which Super Bowls could have been won, but the team (and McNabb) blew it. I know statistically there wasn't a huge difference between the early and late 2000s, but we all watched the games. His last years with the Eagles, he wasn't Brady Quinn, but he was a mediocre QB who was replaceable.

It's also hardly relevant now in 2012. The Birds need a new QB. What this has to do with McNabb I have no idea.
