guarantee the eagles make the playoffs with him last year as he would have never allowed the shtein that went on in the first half of the season both on the field and off

just because the Eagles did a zesty job replacing him does NOT mean letting him go was a bad call.

because the eagles had no plan B was exactly why it was a mistake...this was obvious when it happened...thats what makes this so frustatring that everything everyone was worried about when he left happened just as we expected

You can't pay a guy millions a year to be the best damn cheerleader on the team.

When Jim Johnson took charge of the Eagles defense and saw what he had in Dawkins, he made him the centerpiece of the defense. He played him in the box. He played him in man coverage. He blitzed him off the corner. He played Dawkins in zones where he made even the toughest receivers blink when they came across the middle.

Every team that played the Eagles began its offensive meetings by drawing a circle around No. 20. They had to locate him before every play or risk having him blow it up.

As more teams saw the Dawkins impact, they started looking for safeties that could do the same things. They began scouting the position more closely. They started selecting safeties higher in the draft. Dawkins helped bring that about so he deserves some of the credit for introducing the era of the star safety.

Not arguing whether or not he'll retire as an Eagle but that site isn't legit and I know of Matt Lombardo. He's trying to get his foot in the door in sports radio/journalism. Just saying.

about as meaningful as reading

i actually chalk it up to 100% idiocy on all levels

but its hilarious looking back at all the people who said he wasnt just old but he was completely done and horrible...especially after he made two more pro bowls** since then and he retired because of injury not because he couldnt get on the field anymore....if hes healthy he goes into camp this year as the starter on denver or the eagles

to this day i have yet to hear ONE legitimate reason for them to have let him go

the point is that he played at a high level...did he deserve the pro bowls...maybe maybe not...fact is he played and played very well

I was extremely upset when I first heard he signed with Denver, but when I found out how much he got I understood why the Eagles let him go.  Hindsight is a hell of a thing, I don't think anybody thought he had as much left in the tank as he did.

He was interviewed on NFL Radio today, he said leaving the Eagles was like someone dying.  He was in mourning for a few weeks.  He also claimed that the injury had nothing to do with his retirement.

i dont think anyone thought he would play as well as he did...he exceeded my expectations and i thought it was assinine to let him go

money was probably the worst reason to have not resigned him...they were like 41 million under the cap that year and the nfl was heading into an uncapped year the next season...plus he got less than 10 million guaranteed over five years...it was peanuts

I will be honest that was before I understood that contracts aren't truly what they are, I took them for face value. 

Agreed they should have never let him go.
