the only thing that scares me about Thomas is the dude isnt a hitter.  He's not a physical saftey, he's a cover guy who has incredible instincts, but he's coming out after one season at Texas.  One year wonders worry me

Why on earth would the Eagles invest two (maybe more) picks and a ton of money on a safety in the first round? I don't like it, dammit.

Saftey is a valued position in this defense, and the lack of a presence back there last year was painful.

im super wary of trading up in this draft because of the depth...and that even goes for thomas who i love...i defintely wouldnt do it for morgan...they need a pass rusher...a guy blasting from off the edge and i see morgan as a more talented abiamiri

Last week I was kind of hoping they would trade up for Morgan, but the more I think about it the more I just want them to stay put.  They really need to keep both their 2nd rounders, especially the 37th pick.

From what I have read and heard on the radio though, they don't want to get rid of the 37 for anything really.

And watching Moyer give up 5 in the first to the Braves.

This.

I am also wary of trading up in the first round.  Like most of you I have read the King article saying they will use their one the the two they got from the Skins to trade up to the 11 spot, which I think would be a horrible move.  This is one of the most stocked drafts in recent history, so to trade up using this years picks just sounds dumb.  Now if HowieCo wanted to trade next years first along with this years first to get up to 11 I would be OK with that, but I doubt anyone outside of the Raiders would bite on that.

I still think Pouncey is the way to go, which means they'll take a CB but whatever.
I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.

if you arent willing to trade up for a safety then you definitely dont wanna trade up for a center

ed reed isnt physical either...in fact thomas' best quality is that he isnt a big strong guy...because he can play corner if you need him as well...and he is inexperienced but i see that as great upside rather than to young...guys not even 21 and oozes talent

I like Thomas, but I can't see the Eagles trading up to select a safety. In fact, I would be shocked if they did. I think the Thomas stuff is a smokescreen, I think their real target is Derrick Morgan. Just a hunch.

PoopyfaceMcGee

In that case they suck at smoke screens, because multiple sources are reporting that Morgan could be the target at #10-#12.  Sal Pal just reported that they could trade up as high as #5 but it would be for Pierre-Paul or Morgan, not Eric Berry.

Baby step to 7:30, baby step to 7:30.

Oh, and CNNSI has an article about possible veterans being dealt during draft weekend.  Many players are mentioned, like Marion Barber and Osi Umeniyora, but no current Eagles.  The only guy they mention that the Eagles could be in the hunt for is Rocky McIntosh of the skins.  Meh.

Personally, I'm hoping they trade down and up and have like 5 picks in the 2nd round.

SunMo

the eagles have no more veterans to trade
