perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Where it will be brutally murdered. And improved upon (in my opinion, think trigger clause) and passed sometime next year amid broad partisan posturing. 3 years from now Obama will win in a close election. Five years from now it will be a largely forgotten issue. 15 years from now a Repulican will will be voted into office based in part on his ability to claim foresight in supporting universal healthcare. 30 years from now people won't be able to fathom that we once didn't have universal healthcare. And some new social service will be offered and we'll all be called communists again. And blah blah blah.

Government is in place to protect the borders from attack and provide services. Beyond those two roles you won't find much in the way of rah rah government from me, but the ferocious opposition to the government offering a valuable service to all of its people being displayed right now is farging lunacy. Money is not life. Life is not money.

Well sure, I could see why people would be up in arms about anything for the illegals.

Clobert's "Better Know a District" segment tonight was Delaware, and it might be one of the best. And his interview with Castle was farging hilarious.

"In 1776 Delaware became the first state to ratify the Constitution. State officials say they expect Delaware's next accomplishment any day now."

Bush's lasting legacy will be that Americans will never trust the republican party again (even with Michael Jordan as chairman).

americans have short memories and it's all about the "what have you done for me lately?"  if the dems don't give them what they want then they'll beleive what the republicans say and will start voting for them again.  then after that the dems will point out all of the broken promises from the repubs and they'll become the majority again.  and so on and so forth.

in other words, american voters = dumb

mpmcgraw

the demographic of people voting for republicans is shrinking while the demographic of dem voters is growing fast.

The republican party is either going to have to change something about their policies which is good or go away completely which is also good.  I'm not too worried.

that's because the republicans farged shtein up so bad for 8 years and the american people got sick of it.  but let the next 8 or 12 years go by and if the dems don't deliver on their promises or let another major recession occur while the dems hold office and the repubs will be waiting to point out all of the failures and will swing a lot of the "middle of the road" voters back to their side.

the republican party isn't going away.  they might fall apart and a new party forms to take it's place, but it's going to be made up by the same people with the same ideas and agendas.

like it or not, but in a 2 party system you're going to have 2 conflicting sides.  yin and yang
