it was funny the other evening they showed one of these town halls that was actually productive...and the congressman asked the crowd how many people are for some sort of govt run health care and like two hands went up...then he said how many of you are for medicaid and every hand in the house went up

Oh hell, I accused him of plotting to take over the gov't just like Hitler at the end of the 30s.  And I know a lot of people who argued the same.  Joel's point is correct.  Discussion and rational debate is pretty much over.  There is just diametrical hate now, particularly in Congress, and the them v. us is destroying the country.

Look how many Repubs voted against Sotomayor, just because Obama nominated her.  The Dem response?  Rile up hispanic voters against that candidate.  DC is a farging mess right now, and no one in a position to change it gives a farg.
