That does make a lot of sense.  Props to the Jew of death if that's indeed what they're thinking was and if it actually pans out that way.

Solid thinking there, Eagleholic.

I can hear Banner's evil laugh from here.

Banner only does philanthropy for the tax break.  There's no way he has a heart.

Wow, Banner really does have a hand in it.

The man. The myth. The legend.

QuoteA Look At Pre-Draft Cap Room
Posted by Mike Florio on April 22, 2009, 10:49 p.m. EDT

We've gotten a look-see at the team-by-team salary cap numbers as the draft approaches.

The full list, for every team, is right here.

The Eagles lead the way with more than $37 million in cap room.  Though it's not clear whether this figure takes into account Jason Peters' new deal, the number is remarkable.

The Bucs are next, with more than $35 million.  The Chiefs have more than $32 million, and the Packers have more than $27 million.

The bulges in Philly and Tampa result from the fact that the teams carried over more than $20 million and more than $25 million, respectively, from 2008, as a result of the devices available to push unspent cap dollars into future seasons.  (Rather than, you know, spending them in an effort to win a championship.)

But absent a new CBA, the time to spend is now.  If there's no salary cap in 2010, the money that could have been used will be lost.

The team with the least wiggle room is the Steelers, who have less than $450,000 in cap space.  They'll need to clear some dollars in order to sign their rookies.

Cup!
