Q:What broke down last year? Will anything change to your approach after a bad season last year?

A: combination of things (what broke down) injuries, team chemistry and that was part managements fault he admitted. there were things they could have done better and need to do better, blah blah blah.

Q: Since T.O. when have you taken a risk to succeed?

A: You dont need to take a risk for the hell of it. we feel good about the players we have. if you look at the collective group of threats on this team we feel this is a strength of the team. we would be willing to overpay if it was worth it. there wasnt a situation that a deal didnt get done due to not taking a risk.

We do believe that the success begins with the ability to win the battle at the line of scrimmage but it doesnt stop there. that is the priority in the draft. the root of our philosophy. if you have a prob at DT....why not take a plunge at one of the guys available? there are 2 sides, our evaluation of our players against the evaluation of available players and in the draft. maybe not a star player but a rotation guy.

--when they were talking about free agency and the draft and not picking up a DT, Banner did say they could still be working on something but never said anything really concrete.

--talking about line backers, more worried about the lines as a priority, then strenghts the areas around it

--the players they have compared to who was available at DT wasnt a huge upgrade .

--Sam Rayburn and  Darwin walker -> free agents wouldnt have upgrade
He might be wrong but feels they were as good as whats available

The rest were garbage questions about rule changes and fluff.

Interview over.

--What i took from this was that they would be looking to add a rotational guy instead of the big name DT....but any DT in the draft would be rotating, so thats irrelevant. Its looking more and more towards an OL in my opinion...they really love their current DL. hmmm..interesting

i laughed when he said they dont feel a huge need to add a DT as sam rayburn was hurt all last year but before that he proved to be a great pass rushing DT

I'm sure whatever Joe Banner or Andy Reid says publicly right now is EXACTLY what they are planning on doing.

Right? Like we all had it pegged that they were going to take Andrews Patterson last year. We do have no clue, your right.

then he shouldnt come on the air for a half hour and run his mouth...it just alienates the fans even more

like i always say joe banner should not ever been seen or heard...but if he insists then he should refrain from making player personnell comments as he knows nothing about football

I agree that Banner shouldn't talk. Ever. Especially with clowns like those on the morning show hosting the interview. However, if he never spoke (or Reid) about personnel, the fans would get on their backs and the idiot clowns on the morning show would rip them even more for NOT talking.

But you have to agree, no one should take any credence into what he or Reid says regarding player personnel because its not like they are going to spill any beans beforehand (or any GM/coach for that matter). Its all posturing.

reid can and should talk PP as he has credentials to back it up...banner on the other hand is a glorified accountant

absolutely...thats goes for any team in any sport

i just dont know why banner goes into two minute speeches on positions and players like DT and rayburn...why get all specific on something like that when a) you dont know what youre talking about and b) even if you did none of your words are to be taken on the level anyway

Again, probably because if he was asked questions and didn't come up with any answers, he'd be crucified.

I DO wish he'd just stay in his office and crunch numbers instead though.

Why should Andy Reid have to say anything to the general public?

Who are any of you to think that he's answerable to you?  He's answerable to one man and unless your name is Jeffrey Lurie, that wouldn't be you.

As for Banner, I agree that he should keep his yapper shut.  He sucks at dealing with the media.  He comes off as an haughty and arrogant know-it-all.  There are other people in the organization who are better at dealing with the media (Tom Heckert, for instance) so let them deal with the great unwashed.

The organization as a whole has a responsibility to answer to the fans, without us, they'd be nothing. And that's not to say they should call each of us individually or let us know their offseason plans, but they should still be held accountable.

because its not andy reids team...and owner or not...its not jeffery luries...its the cities team...the people whos tax season ticket and psl money went to buying the team a new stadium as well as supporting it for the last 75 years...

the team will have another owner one day but it wont be another cities...and if you dont believe that whoever owns the team has a certain obligation to the city and its fans than youre more of FO lackey than i even thought...

see buddy ryan and pat croce for examples as to what a public relationship with the fans can do...see what pat gillick in in the middle of trying to do compared to what ed wade did...that personal relationship btwn this cities teams and its fans is super important...perhaps youve been in florida for too long to realize what that means

philly is a place where winning actually isnt everything...community and feeling as tho youre a part of the teams is almost as important...because if it wasnt people would have stopped following sports in the city a long time ago

Yeah, try and figure out how to spend $20+million dollars before and during the season. Call Holmgren and the rest of the FO over in Seattle, they'll help.

No ones saying they have to listen to the fans as far as player personell issues go, but they do have a public responsibility to us as fans. We're the bloodline of the organization regardless of who the coach/owner/GM is.
