I also think that if he didn't make the ad, and Obama made it after the RNC, it would have been seen as an awesome anti-hate message, considering that the pubs are the party of hatred and all.

Can't prove it, but I can suspect it.

I think the timing was great.  Starting last night with the guesswork, the news was all talking about who it could be, and then when it was Palin, it's all they could talk about.  No one was talking about The Speech that was only a mere few hours old.

All weekend we'll hear the thumping buzz of millions of knees jerking.

How was what I said "drivel" FD?

I pointed out somethign that is quite obvious. The Republicans can't use that "experience" claim anymore. Simple as that.

I wasn't exactly going out on a limb.

And Cerevant - say what you want - but no matter who McCain picked you would have railed against it and dug up every negative nuance possible from your Google machine.

Granted.  Its what I do for fun.

QuoteIt's too late to try the "I'm just pointing out the truth" angle.

My first reaction was, "oh shtein - who is she" - with my gut saying that if she was even somewhat moderate, McCain would rake in the Hillary supporters.

Even the driest description of her puts her far out on the right.  She is more likely to bring back some of the hardcore Republicans that hate McCain than she is to draw any independent / dem leaner.  Pro life, NRA member, wants to drill in the ANWR, anti-gay marriage.  He would have done much better with Carly Fiorina, who at least stands toward the middle on women's issues.

She's anti-gay marriage, but signed vetoed a gay friendly hostile law in Alaska.

There's a bold move.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Politically brilliant timing?  I don't see it.  The DNC convention is over..they didn't expect to dominate the news all week.  Moreover, it's a Friday before Labor day weekend.  People will go "he picked who?  a woman? from where?" as they pack their shtein up for the weekend.  By Tuesday when the nation wakes back up, it will be dead news.

I guarantee you that more people, from either party, know more about Palin than they do about Biden as of right now. I will also bet right now, that Palin's speech at the RNC will be one of the most watched speeches of this political season.

No one expects any news (other than gas prices) to dominate the talk for a week...but Obama's speech barely got 12 hours. This is a desperation move on McCain's part, but don't underestimate that it is a move that could work.

My apologies to PG.  The drivel was from Cerevant, not her.

Brilliant!

QuoteAUG 1 -- Sarah Palin Faces State Probe: The LA Times says an investigation will probably kill her VP chances.

Recently, there have also been some murmurs about its telegenic, reformist Republican governor, Sarah Palin, as a possible long shot for vice presidential running mate with Sen. John McCain. ...

But now Palin is also caught in a probe of her official conduct that likely nixes whatever chance she had to be on the McCain ticket. She's only been a governor for two years, but that's about four times as long as someone else mentioned as GOP VP pick, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

However, questions have now arisen over whether Palin used her office to try and fire her ex -brother-in-law from a state trooper's position. Palin asserts the charge is untrue, but the Alaska Senate this week approved the hiring of an independent investigator to look into the allegation.

So much for the sanctity of life...
QuoteDuring one debate before the primary, Palin said she was in favor of capital punishment in especially heinous cases such as the murder of a child. "My goodness, hang 'em up, yeah," she said.

I guess she's pro-some lives.

Yea, she's a VPILF alright.

My question is, at 44 is she younger or older than McCain's current wife when he had an affair with her?

Cerevant

McCain's affair started in 1979 when Cindy McCain (nee Hensley) was around 34.  While Palin is 28 years younger than McCain, she is only 10 years younger than his wife.

You all kill me with the McCain affair stuff. At least it didn't happen in the Oval Office.

Okay, just so we have an accurate count, who all is in favor of drilling in her Alaska?

It isn't the Democrats preaching about the sanctity of marriage.

How true, they just lie to the entire nation about it and under oath, and it's all good.
