Yup. Maybe human consumption has something to do with it, but not to the extent many out there are clamoring about. Climatologists projected that there was an era thought of as the "Medieval Warm Period" back in the 10th - 12th centuries and there was thought to be a "Little Ice Age" during Revolutionary times in the 18th and 19th centuries. It seems more like a cyclical phenomenon instead of one that is human-induced, considering there was no industrialization which would pump fossil fuels into the atmosphere during medieval times and it seems strange that there would be dramatic cooling as well.

in the 1970s the environmental zealots were clamoring about global cooling eradicating all life on earth. Now that we had a few years of negligible global warming everything is going to melt and cause complete chaos.

All the warming rhetoric is overblown and in some cases is tainted with paranoia. And isolated instances are not scientific measurements; just ancedotal. The unseasonably warm temperatures in the northeast are the cause of a warm front moving through. The previous record was 63 back in 1950. You'll be realizing that the dead of winter is coming in full force in the next couple of weeks. Just ask people out in the West getting pummeled by snow. That system will probably push forward to the East sometime in the near future.

Gotta say, even though greenhouses don't work by the purported "Greenhouse Effect", I think it's pretty clear humans are a major contributor to the global warming we're seeing.  What isn't clear is what the hell is going to happen.  Aside from losing 4-6' of beaches, which is obvious, no one really seems to have the foggiest farging idea what the weather changes will be.  It should be interesting.

Australia has meat-flavored potato chips. Please note this for my upcoming obituary.

Ditto Ukraine.  Chips in the flavors of chicken, bacon, beef, and pork.  Plus, tomato and other vegetable crap that I didn't try.

I almost OD'd on the bacon flavored chips.

That's nice.  Any reason you think that?

possibly. and when it's all said an done, humans will feel the effect of it. but the planet will still be here as if nothing happened.

im sure all the un-natural pollution that we have caused throughout the years has effected the enviornment in one way or the other. its pretty much common sense.  im not sure to what degree it has to do with global warming, but it causes alot of damage to the planet in general and to ignore these negative effects is simply wrong.

I don't completely disagree, but this is fairly indicative of the thinking towards the environment today.  You've heard from countless sources, some of which are credible and some which are not, how humans are killing the world.  The less interesting information that you rarely hear are the historical facts and the natural environmental factors.

Ignoring the negative environmental impact we can control is absolutely wrong, I agree.  However, stunting economical growth and progress in alarming fashion is also not the answer.

Basically, congressional Republicans are dead wrong on this, but so is Al Gore.  This is yet another example of how PAC money ruins the political process.  No one is rewarded financially in the political arena for having an intelligent and informed moderate opinion on this issue.  Either you're a "friend" or an "enemy" of the environment or of American business.

More Carbon Dioxide entered the atmosphere after Mt St helens than had occured in a 25 year time frame is what i've heard as far as the natural side of things.  Really everything is about cycles.  In the past 100 years the human race has sped up that cycle in my mind but its not as though we are going to see The Day after Tommorow, but rather a small ice age really just more precip.  The thought that the world will just stop working is laughable.

My roomate got extremely wasted at the club last night and was making out with the ugliest bitch on the planet.  He then was found by one of the guys in our company walking down a main road in his underwear with one sock on.  Apparently he was thrown from a moving vehicle.

Sounds like quite possibly the best night ever.
