Watched "Be Cool" last night....   quite a let-down.  A few chuckles, but mostly time wasted...

I saw the new Star Wars yesterday. I'd have to say the first one with any emotion since the first. It certainly deserves to be grouped with the original and Empire Strikes Back as the high water marks in the series. Terrible dialogue at times, with a few moments of brilliance. Padme comes off as a bit dumber in this one, but overall a very good film. There are a few excellent moments, such as Vaders first breathe in his mask, the sight of the Death Star under construction (I was thinking they should install some covers on the intake shaft, a fatal design flaw), the uttering of the newborns names, Luke and Leah. And thankfully Jar Jar appears onscreen for maybe 10 seconds, and doesn't speak. If you're into the whole Star Wars thing, none of these will come as a suprise, but still as cheesy as they are, you will get a few rushes from them. And you'll plead silently with Obi Wan to finish off Anakin/Vader while he has the chance.  :yay

Personal Sidenote: My 14 yo son sat there at the end a little emotional. He said, "Thats it?" I asked why he didn't like it, and he said he loved it, he was just sad that it was the end of the whole thing. I felt the same way. I told him I was about his age when I watched the first one, and it was a bit odd that here we were at the end of the saga, a long round trip to where I started 20 some years earlier. The movies were far from perfect, but they spanned a generation and in some cases provided a genuine common interest that is not always easily found. They were about imagination, escape, and good vs evil. All in all, for the time and money spent to see these films, they may have been the best entertainment value ever ....

We saw Star Wars last night.  I thought it was awesome.  Who knew Darth Vader was such a wuss?  Then we went home and watched Under a Tuscan Sun.  I liked that too.  Got me in touch with my feminine side.

I'm going to see 'Batman Begins' here shortly. I'll post an in depth review when I return.

I've been watching AMC for the last 2 days, and they have some decent flicks.

I saw all or some of:

The Verdict (great flick in its time, but now you see the same story on a weekly basis on the Law & Order type shows)

Everybody's All American (Jessica Lange & one of the Quaids as the Grey Ghost, decent)

Mobsters ( Christian Slater, decent film but pales in comparison to the violence in other gangster flicks)

Final Analysis (Uma, Bassinger, Gere, something for everyone)

and the weirdest film of all .....

Valley of the Dolls (Patty Duke as a egomaniacal actress addicted to pills, super weird, and a musical to boot. Sex, drugs, booze and Patty Duke. In its time, it must have been a very contraversial film. It was erie too. I had never seen Sharon Tate in a movie. She was murdered while pregnant by the Manson family like a year or two after this film. She was HOT. The end of the film will give you the creeps if you keep what happened to her in mind. Not for everyone. A little gay in fact, but definitely weird.)

The NFL old standard.

WEST is GOD

I saw Batman Begins last night. I really thought Bale did a great job. He was a perfect fit for Batman. Katie Holmes did an alright job. She didn't ruin the movie like I thought she would.

It's pretty damn long. You don't really get into him being Batman until like an hour or more into the movie. The only real complaint I have is that it's missing the big fight. Batman doesn't really get into a huge brawl. He kinda just disposes of single thugs quickly, and there is few dramatic fights. Not a huge problem because big dramatic fights can get a little cliched, becaue in reality a fight doesn't always have to end dramatically. Overall it's a fun movie to go out and see. I walked out feeling I got my money's worth. I'm not a huge fan of the comics so how accurate it was doesn't mean 2 shteins to me. So if it does to you, you may look at it differently.
THIS SEASON IS OVER AND ANDY'S WORLD IS GRIDL

Offseason needs: 2 DEs, 1 DT, 1 OL, 2 LBs, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 KR.

No big fights? Is there at least the superimposed BAM! and POW! ? Ikinda liked the big fight with Poison Ivy and Freeze in earlier films. Along those lines, the Spiderman fight with the guy on the air scooter rocked, so did the one in the second X Men with Wolverine. I'll probably see it, but no big fight? That's one thing the latest Star Wars didn't dissappoint on, big mega fight scenes.
The NFL old standard.
