Anyone seen a good movie lately?

There is a good reason that the machete method of watching Star Wars eliminates episode 1 entirely.  Nothing that happens really does anything for the story.  You can watch episode 2 and it pretty much catches you up onto anything you need to know. 

Definitely, unless you absolutely need to see Qui-Gon or Darth Maul. And that's my other big complaint about Ep 1....feel like Darth Maul was way underutilized. If I knew nothing about Star Wars and I watched that, I'd know that I'm not supposed to like him but I'd have no idea why. He just shows up, doesn't really say much, kills Qui-Gon and gets got.

Spot on with maul. All you saw in the previews and ads was mauls face and yet hardly in the film.

Rewatched Star Wars on a hack site, liked it a little more than the first time I saw it. My gripes still stand.

Last night I started watching the prequels with my kids. I haven't seen episode 1 in like 10 years, but holy shtein it's about 1000 x worse than I remember.

A few years ago during a snowstorm or hurricane or whatever, my old room mate and I decided to do a Star Wars marathon. We only made it about half way through episode 1 before we started watching something else.

I saw Star Wars in imax today. It was pretty dope. I  somehow did not know Harrison ford was in it beforehand.

If you're going to suffer through the prequels, the best way to watch them is 4, 5, 2, 3, 6. And I guess now 7.

We watched Ep 2 tonight. It's actually better than I remember. Still not great, but it's a gazillion times better than 1.  The "sports bar" showing robot football on tv is so farging lame, but Hayden Christensen is really the only truly awful thing about the movie. Too bad he's in pretty much all of it. Natalie Portman sucks at acting but her tits/body were so farging legit in this movie. Seeing Yoda fighting Dooku still gives me goosebumps. So great seeing him not be old and decrepit for a few minutes. By far the best thing about the entire movie.

Sorry but I don't hate 1 simply because the Maul light saber duel was so damn good.

I think 2 is my least favorite of the prequels. Jake Lloyd was a little annoying as an akin but HC was god awful as him. Not that the writing helped.

Yeah, the duel was epic, the issue was the other 2hrs.

Yup. And one 5 minute scene does not erase 2 hrs of total suck.

I began watching Love And Mercy about Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.  Great cast (Cusack, Elizabeth Banks, Paul Giammati).  I thought it would be terrific.  With that cast it had to be, right?

I got 25 minutes in and turned it off.  It was horrendous.

The Millennium Falcon was faked but Chewie was real.
