First half finally over. Could have been disasterous but the Eagles kept it close and the offense started moving the ball in the 2nd qtr. Another score would have been great before the half to keep some pressure off the D but now it's up to the defense to come out and set the tone for the second half.
Reid, for the love of everything holy please DO NOT try to start the half with an onsides kick.
Special teams need to step up too......covering, returning and kicking. So far Dirk's punts have been the best aspect of ST's.

Most of his passes have been on target. His first throw after the hit went high but other than that his passes have been pretty much where they need to be. Any inaccuracy in his throws I think is just because he's human not because of the hit he took.

wtf are you talking about? He TORE his rib cartilege in the Carolina game. This is his chest bruised, it wasn't even close to his ribs like in the NFCCG. But nice assumption.
The first thing I thought of when he took that hit was whether or not he hurt his sternum, like Madden and Michaels hinted at shortly after. McNair had the same injury a couple years ago and I beleive he went on to have one of his most productive seasons. It didn't keep him out of any games.

they only scored that drive cause of the misdirection plays...great plays indeed...but ones that onlywork a couple times a game...these were plays they had to run since they have no chance to move the ball straight ahead as the line is getting merked tonite

Defense is fine, offense needs to score more than 10 points to win football games. McNabb and Akers have been a little subpar, the offensive skill positions have been average, but the O-line has been

The only Westbrook runs that have done anything were on plays where the Falcons D was totally sold on the pass. With no consistent run game we have to pass to sustain drives.

MMH- I have to admit, there were several plays where I was wondering where TO's head was. I thought it may have been my imagination from all of the summer's festivities, but now that you said it, I saw some of that as well.

I think both teams were juiced up at kickoff. When the Falcons (and Eagles mistakes) shut down the first Eagles offensive drive is when they got the bulk of the momentum. If the Eagles defense had played first, things might have been different.

I thought the D came on strong, but not having Trot did hurt. I give it to Atlanta. They seemed to be in better condition, stuck to their game plan better, and just played a smarter, tougher game tonight. They get this one, but we'll see them again real soon, and then, we'll have the chip on our sholders.

Like I said, I originally chalked it up to my imagination, but I saw some signs where I was wondering where TO's head was. He had several drops, allowed Hall to blanket and manhandle him pretty much at will, and I thought could have made a better effort at that one over the middle.
I won't say that he intentionally threw the game or not give his best effort. To be honest, he and McNabb both didn't seem mentally sharp tonight.
And I can't just "sleep it off." I don't drink. (Unless Sugar-Free Orangeade has something I don't know about in it. :paranoid)
The Eagles beat themselves again.
Didinger just brought up a good point that this Oline unit barely played together in the preseason or at all before. They will improve.

I'm not sure I agree with this totally. The defense stiffened up in the second half and single-handedly kept the Eagles within a score of winning this game. With ANY support from the offense or one supposedly stellar kicker, this game could have and maybe should have been won.
The defense showed a lot of chutzpah in the second half. The offense... well, that's another story. :boom
And I agree about McNabb. He wasn't mentally in the game at all after that hit. Even though the hit was to the chest, I wondered a time or two about a concussion. Or perhaps the chest injury made him too skitish to make good decisions. Whatever, I agree that this was his worst performance since... probably the Pittsburgh game.
I agree with hunt. As much as I love Westbrook, he is NOT good in between the tackles and is easy to wrap up in the backfield. He's insanely hard to bring down in the open field though.

How do you figure? Brown was covering him and Dawk was back there as well. Dawk didn't put himself in the best position to make that play but really it was more of a really good throw and catch than anything else.
If the Eagles weren't playing run, do you think there would have been 3 or 4 defenders back there?

I agree about Akers. As for McNabb, he looked simply like pre-2004 McNabb, only with fewer smiles. He was a bit below his average ability, but I can't put it all on him, especially with a line that must have given the Falcons 50 yards in penalties.

The thing that keeps me going is that we played like total ass and lost by 4 points. And our pro bowl kicker missed 2 fgs.
I'm not worried. The Eagles cant play much worse than they played in that game.
it was a great throw by vick...dawk was a little late getting there but still a perfect pass...whether that was because he was cheating on the run was hard to tell

I remember the pass leaving Vicks hands, and Dawk running to the ball to catch up with Jenkins as fast as he can, but the ball went over Dawk's hands as he jumped and tried to knock it down, but I wouldn't consider that covered. Dawk was not with him all the way down the field as far as I remember. Dawk had to come back to Jenkins. I'll watch it over again though.

Look saying the D was slack because they let up a deep pass is a little retarded. I think the D showed it was ready for the season, but the O left much to be desired. They get to get their rythym against SF next week.

All that really matters is that Dawk was on his inside shoulder and Brown was on his back shoulder. Vick layed it right in there.

I thought Lambinjo did a nice job filling in for Trott.
Patterson started getting some push up the middle as the game went on which really started to disrupt Atlanta's running game.
Dawkins had himself a nice game. He started off a little slow last year so it's nice to see him fired up already. The Eagles needed him out there tonight more than ever.
Lewis looked pretty good in his first game as a starter.
Koy looked great on the sidelines.
That's about it. :-\
Edit: Rod Hood was great on punt coverage. On the Eagles last punt Rossum signaled for a fair catch and Hood was throwing a fit because he wanted to drill him again. :-D
Westbrook had a decent game as well. Now if only he can get some run blocking.
The Eagles deserved to lose tonight.
They turned the ball over three times on the road yet still somehow had a chance to win it at the end. The defense held tough, but when you are practically on the field all night there isn't much you can do.
The Eagles kept making mistakes and the D gave them the ball back in great position numerous times. The offense didn't show up and cost us the game. McNabb was out to lunch. Too many complex motion plays and double shifts. When we kept it simple we moved the ball. We got in trouble when we tried to get fancy and it killed drives.
It also seemed like AR went to the same old plays throughout the night. Too many quick slants and he just seemed too predictable.
It was a weak showing on MNF the first game of the season. I was hoping they would set a better tempo than this, but also give the Falcons credit. Their defense made our offense quit. They mauled us at the line of scrimmage and made us their bitch when we tried to run the ball. I thought this line was supposed to be mauling people, not getting bitch slapped by an undersized defense. It was pretty sad.
Our D kept us in the game. They played pretty well, although I have my concerns against the run. Some of the holes that Dunn was running through looked like you could fit a truck through. This team needs to get its aggression back in a hurry. I did not like what I saw out of both ends of the ball, but especially on the offensive side.
The D needs to get better against the run, and the offense needs to get better in all facets. I just can't believe how many drives were killed tonight by sloppy play.
Yeah well. Next week hopefully we can beat up on the Niners and get back on track quickly.

Honestly, IGY, this team could have lost anywhere. They just played like crap. Can't put all of that on the dome or the Atlanta crowd.
The crowd did make a huge difference on that one 3rd down penalty, though.

They were running right at Kearse to neutralize his speed. He had to play contain on Vick outside or they had a TE kicking him outside.

We started fargin up when we got cute...the backward pass...Westbrook going on an end around and losing 5 yards on 2nd and short...the constant shifting of the players in an unfriendly environment. Just line up and use your playmakers.

I'm not worried about this team at all. I know they are going to bounce back, win the division and secure HFA. I'm not concernced about that at all. But at the same time, it's very frustrating and aggrevating to see this championship caliber team go out and play like a bunch of second stringers.

Yep. He got pushed around a little in the first qtr but he really settled down and starting getting some good pressure up the middle. I beleive he was right in Vick's face on the first Vick fumble.

yeah well, crappy loss. Time to sleep it off and look forward to next week. Its so hard to let go but you just gotta admit defeat and move on from here. Hopefully McNabb and Co. wake up and just move the ball more efficiently.
This offense has the talent to just keep it simple and move it up the field. You can get cute when you can afford it, but I hate when the Eagles game momentum and Andy tries to pull some fake double end around shuffle pass combination which goes nowhere. Or crappy swing passes which don't push the ball down the field.
Ugh. Need sleep. No point in dwelling on it. I'm confident AR will right the ship next week. It just is painful when you watch a team not play to its potential.

It's week 1. That game tonight didn't mean shtein in the grand scheme of things. It meant a lot more to the Falcons than it did the Eagles because they've been waiting for this game since January. Not a pressure game imo.
Pressure games are those win or go home type of games. They usually happen during the playoffs which I expect you're not too familiar with.

One thing that I didn't see anyone point out was that Hicks fargin sucks and played a terrible game, and we got penalties at the most inconvenient of times. It's not good when you are 1st and 15, 2nd and 9, 3rd and 9, 1st and 20, 2nd and 10, 3rd and 8, etc.
We need to be 2nd and 6, 3rd and 3. We had the throw the ball every friggin time with those penalties, and they didn't respect our run one bit and we had no pass protection either.
To be honest I don't give a shtein about next week. I mean obviously I'm extremely excited to watch the Eagles play, but the Niners are nothing. The Raiders are nothing. The Falcons are a team that is going to be there down the line. Those are the wins and games I care about. Who else on the schedule from the NFC is going to be there at the end of the year? Not the Cowboys. I wanna beat the good teams.

It's a matter of perspective I guess. TO had a solid game but Hall was able to keep him in check in regards to making "the big play". He kept him out of the endzone and he kept him from going deep.
I'd say both players had a solid game with each one making plays.
TO had a mediocre game, really. He caught some, got pushed around some, dropped some, and lost one or two in the lights. Hall got the best of him, considering the number of throws that went his way.

115 yards looks good on paper, but he had an average game for TO standards. No big plays, wasn't always open, and dropped balls.
Reid usually does go back to the running game when McNabb struggles...his performance tonight reminded me somewhat of the Tampa Monday night game a few seasons back.

This offensive line baffles me. Some games Mcnabb has all frickin day to throw the ball, and some games it plays piss poor. It was piss poor against the Steelers last year. It was piss poor against the Niners 2 years ago. Just random games this line will play poorly. I don't wanna hear shtein about that Falcons d-line either. It's average. Kerney is such a fraud it's a joke.

The village wouldn't be as entertaining without me. Kerney or Coleman aren't nearly as good as Kearse. I'll put it that way. They are solid ends, but they aren't all pros in my opinion. They didn't do squat in the NFCCG last year. They did this year because the o-line was out of it all game.

Ed Donatell always seems to get good pressure on Mcnabb. He did in the playoff game with the Packers 2 years ago(even though we won) and he did today. He didn't really get much last year in the NFCCG, but for the most part he seems to do well getting pressure against the Eagles.
Pressure wasn't the real problem, the offense just played like shtein. What's it been, twice in the last six years that the offense came out in game one and played like a pro offense? Actually, that should be one and a half given the choke job against the Titans a few years back.
That said, it's too early to think about how or what the team will do, so there's no point in freaking out right now. Even as zesty as they played (and they played like shtein sans the D for 3 quarters) they still had a chance to win the game at the end... twice. If they're still pulling this crap around the bye week games, then that's a different story. Would have been nice if the O wasn't so Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde at times.
If they're pulling this crap next week against San Fran it's a different story. San Fran's win this week is a "feel good" story but they are far inferior to the Eagles. If the Eagles don't win this game in a laugher I might be concerned.

Even without Trotter the D did what they needed to do (got turnovers, kept the score low, kept the Falcons out of the endzone after the first Q) but the Offense didn't do enough to capitalize on the opportunities they got. The D got run on, but not up the gut.

I'm not sure why you're so hung up on it. After that initial hit, he didn't wince once because of that, and his throwing motion looked the same. I'd be shocked if it was anything more than a bruise.

if it was just a bruise he should be ashamed of himself....not only was he pathetically inaccurate...but he pouted the whole game...just didnt seem to wanna be there...how that could be after the pre game emotions is beyond me...thats why i gotta think he was hurting more than is being let on
I know all of this was probably mentioned by now, but here's my $0.02:
Pros:
1. Defense got better as the game went on, and provided turnovers. Dawkins is all kinds of ill. They adjusted and bottled up the run, and Vick proved to be ineffective down the stretch while throwing on the run. Pitched a shutout for the last 3 quarters.
2. Kick/punt coverage was stellar. Rossum was not a threat whatsoever.
3. Shawn Andrews and Mike Patterson both played excellently. Andrews was definitely the best OL on the field, and Patterson was much more involved in the game than either DE.
4. Westbrook did an admirable job in blitz pickups when he was in the backfield.
5. Receivers seemed to be running good routes and made plays when given the chance, for the most part. Donovan was erratic last night, but they stuck with it. Greg Lewis' catch on 3rd and 3 on that final drive was huge, and it was a laser with a DB all over him.
Cons:
1. Runyan looks old and slow. Neither he nor Thomas could deal with speed blitzers at all last night.
2. Hicks and Fraley are obviously very average. The Falcons were smart to make sure Rod Coleman was up against that side of the interior line, and he wreaked havoc early and often, both in the running game and the passing game.
3. McNabb let either the hit to the chest or the pressure from the constant blitzes get to him, and he never got in the groove. He looked like the Donovan from 2002, not the Donovan from 2004. I also noticed he had a nice lane to run for 10 yards on the ill-advised backwards loft pass to Westbrook. He's infuriating when he won't take what the defense gives him.
4. Penalties. Are you kidding me with some of this crap? This team is supposed to be an elite, experienced team. They were having enough problems getting 10 yards in 3 downs, but making it 15, 20, or 25 made it impossible.
5. Running game? Awful blocking by the left side of the line. Not much better on the right. Got lucky on some long runs, but mostly left Westbrook out to dry.
6. Jevon Kearse didn't earn his paycheck last night. He was often single-teamed by a TE successfully. Pathetic.
7. I know they're 49 yarders, but Akers missing two kicks in a dome? If he makes the first one, the tone and mentality of the game changes immensely from the first drive. If he makes them both, the Eagles win.
That's about it for now. Sucked to lose, because it means the team will probably be 2-2 at the bye week.

ST sucked. Besides the missed FGs, Hood had nowhere to run ALL night. He made some solid plays on ST though on Rossum.

This is a game we should have won, Trotter should have been in there and Akers never has missed two FG's in a row that I can remember. Even with McNabb and the o-line looking bad, we still should have won this one.

Its been said many times but this is the first game of the year for a historically slow starting team. Take a look around ladies and gentlemen this is the last week we'll be looking up from the bottom of the Division. Everything that could go wrong last night on Offense did and we still only lost by 4 points. Mcnabb can only go up after that performance.

this loss by itself is next to meaningless...it was tough game and i kinda expected it...the fact that they should have won is what hurts
however in the early season big picture it becomes very meaningful...three of the first five are killer road games...at this point 3-2 going into the bye would be a dream

mcnabb sucked...partially because the o-line sucked. i pray that hicks or fraley dont' get #5 killed this season.
the playcalling was brutal...45 passes, 14 rushes. in last year's nfc champ game, the eagles threw 27 times & ran 33 times. i guess andy forgot what worked.

the D got run on, as usual, but really beared down in the 2nd half & did enough for the team to win.

going forward, the o-line is my only real concern...we know what mcnabb is capable of when they give him some time. hopefully runyan & thomas will get younger & faster...and hicks & fraley will suck less...andrews was okay, imo.

he served a purpose...he stretched the field and also was a guy that mcnabb could have confidence in to go up and get a ball...mcnabb cant do that with lewis...i disagree about pinkston...there are many teams hed be a two on...hes a good 2 when across from a stud one like owens...hes not going to create on his own tho...but he still can get by as an nfl #2...whereas lewis has yet to ever prove that
youre asking a lot for an unproven undrafted free agent to step into a starting role on a superbowl team like that...its possible he could be up to the task..well see...but i think people have penciled him in like its a foregone conclusion that he will be better than pinky and automatically transition into the spot

the lateral thing to westbrook, what the single dumbest play i have ever seen him make. that play was embarrassing.
mcnabb is not the only reason they lost, but he was a big part of pissing away any opportunity to win. he looked like a rookie last night.

I think you're right, Wingspan. The biggest homers amongst us (me included) have to be careful trying to absolve McNabb of the loss last night. Sometimes when the protection breaks down, you simply must eat the ball. On both fumble plays, McNabb had room to run and decided to either sit in the pocket way too long or make an idiotic backwards lob.
No doubt that #5 was bad last night. He wasn't the only one, but he was bad.

Last year McNabb had the most 40+ yard passes in NFL history (20). 9 of them were to TO. That's to be expected form a superstar #1 WR. But as our #2, Pink hauled in 6. That's not nothing.

Hey, it was one of those nights. Not much went right, and when things went wrong it was self-perpetuating. From pre-game to the last play, they were just "not right." Next week, I'm sure, it'll be a different story. But there's plenty of blame to go around for last night.

I don't know if I'd go that far. He got hit from behind and had what's him name going head first into his chest. That pass had more hang time than most punts. Can't blame him for making the throw. He had TO in one on one coverage deep down the field with a cornerback who's giving up a few inches to him.
That pick should be credited to the Falcons d-line.
There are plenty of plays that went bad that you can point at DMac and say it was on him but I don't think that play was one of them.

I am a huge Donovan fan, but his accuracy last night was as bad as it's been in awhile. even Westbrook's TD was a pretty athletic play to make the catch.

This team revolves around Donovan. When he's playing poorly, the team will lose more often than not. He gets paid millions and millions more than the Artis Hicks's and Mike Labinjo's, and he should have to answer that much more when he performs at a sub-average level.
Of course it wasn't only his fault. Of course. But if he played like 2004 Donovan and not 2002 Donovan, we wouldn't need to talk about the other things that went wrong nearly as much, because we would have won the game.

i agree with you. however, i think you can't blame all of McNabb's poor play on just Donovan. Reid really put him in a tough position with his play calling. having him drop back to pass 40+ times against a team that was hell-bent on blitzing him was not the way to go. they were catching them with screens and quick traps, i don't understand why they didn't keep those plays up.
Trotter getting das boot was huge. It took a while for the defense to suck it up.
Dawkins is the best FS in the NFL (or at least NFC). He had a nice play to break up the pass to Crumpler that would have been a TD, and he seemed to do well in coverage against him, especially on the interception.

McNabb looked horrible. Some of his decisions were suspect at best - both fumbles were avoidable. He knows (or should) he can't hold on to the ball that long (why the farg didn't he run at all last night-ribs?chest?), and the backward pass to Westbrook was a piss poor decision. There had to have been alternate receivers to throw the ball to and the line actually looked like it picked up that blitz.

The pre-season ended after the Jets game. Saying this game didnt mean anything is foolish. Had we won, I'm sure your feelings would be a tad different. And how was Wynn "sucking it up"? Considering the poor blocking, I think he did the best he could do.
Listen, we just didnt come to play last night. Period. Like everyone else, I'm nervous about going 2-3 into the bye week, but I know this team. Were better than Atlanta. Hell, were still the best in the NFC as long as we play to our potential and well be just fine.
Last night sucked, no question about it. But, it's not the end of the world. Look back at this teams track record. We'll bounce back - we always do.
Good - R. Brown (except for the penalties), G. Lewis, Adams, Patterson, Dawkins, M. Lewis
Bad - McNabb, TO, O-line (except Andrews)
Anyone else worry that losing Ike on STs might be a bigger loss than any of us thought?? He's replaceable at LB, no doubt, but clearly we're still missing something on STs.
The thing that pisses me off the most about the game was that the Eagles had PLENTY of chances to pull out a win in the 4th quarter and blew them all. The defense gave the offense everything they could and the O just plain CHOKED. Every single player (maybe other than Westbrook) stunk it up. TO made some plays, but he also blew a few. The Oline should be flogged. McNabb acted like a rookie. Penalties everywhere. Reid didnt have this offense ready. Period.

Owens was targeted 19 times by McNabb. That's abnormally high for any receiver, especially for one who plays on a team that supposedly spreads the ball around.
The Falcons essentially ran the same game plan that was somewhat succesful at the end of last season: prevent us from going deep by having McNabb settle for the intermediate stuff. This does not play into McNabb's strengths. So to adjust, we either have to a) run more -- and be successful at it -- to force the safeties up or b) find a receiver with Pinky's skills and line him up across from TO; Lewis is more effective in the slot.
R Diddy also made a point about the tempo of the offense and said that McNabb was constantly montioning for the play to be called quicker. that's obviously on Reid.
overall, the defense struggled early, but when it's all said and done, you'd take 14 points every game. the offense needs to be better. the way i see it though, there are no critical flaws, things that can't be fixed. all the problems last night can be fixed with adjustments and practice, IMO.

the bad special teams play can be attributed to the lack of depth right now.
i think the starters on this team are as good as any team, if not better, but there is also a bigger drop off to the 2nd stringers than their has been in the past 5 years.

I've said before I think that the stat of him and his 40 plus yard catches are nothing more than the result of him not being able to do anything else, or are you forgetting all the drops, short arming passes, and just plain chickening out? He doesn't help this offense by lining up opposite TO, he hinders it because all the can do is go deep, and even then you can't be shore he'll catch the ball. You say he is a good safety valve for McNabb because he can go up and get the ball?? He has to get off the line without getting jammed and get open first, and thats not a given by any means.
And I'm not giving up on Lewis, not after what I saw from him in the post season last year, imo he played better than Pinky ever did in any playoff game, or are you forgetting what your "safety valve" did against the Panthers?

They never went deep again after that.
And even on intermediate routes he was off.

Thats why I was thinking it and didn't post it before PP54 did. I'm not making excuses for him, he sucked. If he was inaccruate because of the spear, I don't know. He didn't look to be in any pain, but after a hit like that, how can you not be affected by it somewhat?

In Reid's defense, it's not as if running the ball was overly successful. I would have liked to see him bring in Parry and Gordon on 1st down and do some more power running. Leave the team with 2nd and 6 or so, and get the OL pumped up and aggressive.
Pass blocking and standing on their heels the whole game is not going to inspire the OL to play better, IMO.

It's hard to run the ball with success when they don't try. As the talking heads pointed out during the telecast, during play fakes the LBs were just bailing out. There's no point in faking a run when the team isn't running.

On Gordon's lone run, Reid had Westbrook split out wide. Interestingly enough, Westbrook was being covered by a DB, so you'd have to assume they were playing nickel. That should make it much easier for Gordon to run inside. I predict Gordon sees at least 10 carries next week, with most from this formation.

It was because he still makes a lot of mistakes in protection, and Reno was more experienced for special teams. However, after watching Reno suck complete balls last night , I would not be at all surprised to see Moats get a shot to take Reno's place as Hood's lead blocker on kickoff returns.

I'm going to rewatch the entire game later today on tivo. Especially at the end of the game. I want to count how many times Mcnabb could've ran to pick up first downs. I was watching the game with a few friends and in the 4th quarter there were multiple times where Mcnabb dropped back and was goin through his reads. I screamed at the TV, JESUS CHRIST NO ONE'S OPEN TAKE OFF!! Instead he'll fire an inaccurate pass 5 yards behind TO or into the dirt. Even if he didn't pick up a first, that would leave us at 2nd and 5 rather than 2nd and 10 or 3rd and 5 rather than 3rd and 10. His chest was definitely bothering him. Mcnabb isn't the most accurate passer in the world, but he's definitely improved over the years and was way too awful last night for me not to say his chest wasn't a factor.

I think the problem is when they have a problem moving the ball on 1st down, they get into a pass rut for 2nd and 3rd down. I don't think they do well because they run the ball - its that they only run the ball when they are doing well.

it should have been called. the guy lept at him head first into his chest, while his arms were almost to his sides, after the throw. it should have been at least a 15 yarder. it was a textbook spearing play.

The O line was AT LEAST as bad as McNabb was. And all that early pressure gave him the happy feet to begin with. And I was right....it was only a bruise.
mcnabb played much worse than the line...but he gets a pass because of the injury...so with that taken into consideration the line was actually worse as they had no excuse

Don't forget about what happened in 2003. Everyone was ripping Mcnabb a new one, until we found out that deep bone bruise in his hand was affecting him more than we thought. I'll say that it was a lot worse in the Steelers game last year than last night. I would give it a D- but not quite an F. Maybe that will change when I watch more, but it was an F in the first half and a C+ in the second half. I've seen the offensive line perform worse than it did last night. In the second half we had so many opportunities to get the ball back and tie the game or take the lead. Mcnabb did have time to throw the ball, but there were multiple plays where he just amde extremely poor throws. I remember one play specifically where Mcnabb sat in the pocket for about 6 seconds, looked right first then fired to a streaking TO in the middle of the field. That was a guaranteed 6 points if he completes that pass. TO had the DB beat so bad on that play. Mcnabb threw too high on that one. Whether it is significant anymore or not, I'm saying Mcnabb was the one who lost us this game. I don't think it was his fault though, his chest was bothering him.

those are Westbrooks rushing yards on each attempt. 7 of 12 attempts resulted in 3 or less yards. That is terrible. And his 23 yard carry was because LJ Smith made two great blocks to turn in the end and then get to the second level and take out another guy. I have a hard time even giving the Oline credit for that run. They need to be pushing some sleds for that performance.
I don't think any RBs in the league could have gained yardage on those plays.

Here's an idea. GET A FULL BACK WHO CAN ACTUALLY BLOCK AND THEN CALL SOME fargING RUNNING PLAYS AND USE HIM.

One of my buddies was telling me what a great job Hall did on TO. I agreed how a cornerback is doing a tremendous job to hold a receiver to only seven or so catches and a hundred and some yards.
The more replays I see, the more I am convinced that Hall got away with a lot.

I think you could see Lamar Gordon used as a FB in the future...when he gets up to speed. Then say bye-bye to Murp ti free up a roster spot for McDougle or the resigning of Chad Lewis.
It kinda makes sense since AR went with Murp over Ritchie since Murp seems to have better hands. Gordon as a FB would just give the Eagles yet another weapon out there...and he'd be used much like Mike Anderson was a few years back in Denver...he was the FB but still got a few carries/catches when the situation called for it (short yardage or a hot read).

It was close...the one angle made it look like he had just started to pull it forward as Walker was knocking it out. The one angle though made it look like it wasn't going forward....close, but IMO the refs made the right call and Walker made a heckofa play.
Trotter should give the fine as a donation to the hurricane relief. When you get fined, you are allowed to donate that money to your favorite charity rather than giving it to the NFL.

Brian Baldinger was on DNL and he broke down the game. He said from watching the tape TO just absolutely had a mediocre to sub-par game. He said he saw play after play where TO didn't fight hard enough to get open. He also said he saw a few plays where TO played right into the defenses hands and could've adjusted his route, but didn't. He said he was disappointed in TO and he was smart enough, and knows the WCO well enough to adjust but didn't. He said TO should've had a field day against Hall.
I tend to agree with Baldy on this one.

That's my line of thinking, I'd rather have Gordon & Westbrook sharing the backfield. Spach could play spot duty as FB (I think I saw Parry only for 4-5 plays the entire game) while we bring back Chad.

I don't remember Westbrook threatening to cause problems without a renegotiation. He just held out, relatively quietly, came back, and said negotiations were over until the FO upped their price.
