bayless can shoot a little...ish can't shoot at all.  that's the difference & it's a big one.

speaking of can't shoot at all...i read that the sixers are interested in rondo.  :boo

Well, Bayless has a career .415 shooting percentage while Smith has a career .401 shooting percentage, so that's about a push.

Honestly, they're both bottom tier starters and the money that they're both making is chicken feed, so it's moot.

hunt

i meant shoot the 3...bayless has twice as many 3's as ish last season in fewer minutes...and hit 43% vs ish's 33%.
i mean, neither guy moves the needs so it's just about fit at this point.  they have to get up to the salary floor anyway.

def bottom tier as starters...and semi-ok as backups.

Jamal Crawford just followed Ben Simmons & Joel Embiid. Spoke yesterday on @NBATV about how he wouldn't mind joining a young team as a vet.

supposedly crawford is a good guy both on & off the court...could provide vet leadership as well as an offensive spark.

i've always liked crawford. but he's basically just a better nick young. can shoot but also takes more bad shots than anyone on the court.

apparently a good dude though so i'd be fine with a year or two. would be very surprised that he doesn't try to chase a ring his last few years though.

MDS

crawford would be a great signing, but i cant see how this isnt a ploy by him. doesnt seem likely that hed throw 2-3 years of his career away to go play with a bunch of kids, albeit get paid handsomely
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

What's the difference between him and Ish other than the extra nine million they're paying this guy?

three inches and upside

three inches is huge when you are talking about one guy being 6 foot

while age doesn't apply here in terms of upside (they are both 27) one of these guys is coming off a career year in a very important stat - shooting...its been proven time and time again that it often takes player in the nba 5-7 years to become a legit shooter in the league...im not saying its going to happen but basically bryco is betting that last year was the start of bayless' career not an outlier

I was actually surprised they were only 9 mil apart...one guy is a 6'3 former lottery pick coming off a career shooting year and the other is at best a midget back up point guard

Rondo would have been a disaster.  Crawford, though... can't say I would have not liked him there.  They need solid pro's going forward and he can still play.  LOL @ $42M over three years, though.  Tell me that isn't patently absurd.

at only three years that's really fair actually for the 6th man of the year....remember the market we are in...tomothy mozgov got 4/64

I like the signing. Small upgrade. Given Bayless' style and strengths it seems they are setting up Simmons to run the offense as a point forward.

I'm not even going to pretend to be an expert on Simmons' game because I only saw him play like 3x last season, but his court vision, awareness, and passing ability stood out to me more than any other aspect of his game.

QB Eagles

It was always likely that's how they would use Simmons, but I see this Bayless signing as confirmation. They are handing him the keys in his rookie year.

I actually think Bayless is an okay signing even if last year's shooting was an outlier. Complementary guy and the price seems about right in this market.

How much more to get to the salary floor?

MDS

is there anything else they can do at guard?
