i think Lurie would want an offensive guy

Why so? I think he'll hire the best man for the job. Rhodes was a defensive guy, he brought Gruden in and the Offense was fine.

i'm just getting that from reading and listening to a few people.  Lurie thinks the league is an offensive league and he would prefer to find an offensive minded coach.

i'm good with getting the "next" big guy like they tried to do with rhodes and reid.  i just have this feeling that if cowher and gruden come back it will be halfassed.  give me the Falcons o-coordinator or the packers.

ice grillin you

coaching is a 100% crapshoot anyway

none of this matters until they get their qb and a real president of football op's...put those two things in whatever order you want....but both are infintely more important than the next head coach

somewhere this week i heard of the possibility of Andy being president of the eagles and then hiring new people.  i think i would be ok with that.  the scariest thing to think about that now is howie picking their new coach.

i had that fear last week but the more i thought about it the more i think he has as much chance as hitting on a coach as andy or any other real football guy does...i mean belichek sucked in cleveland and now is a genius...is mike mcarthy really any better a coach than say ron rivera...rex ryan makes two conference championship games and is now a total clown...shtein andy reid himself was ripped as a hire...i just dont think you ever know with coaches....i also think lurie will be much involved in the search getting input from lots of football guys not affiliated with the organization

i badly want howie out of there but much more so for the PP problems than that hes gonna pick the next coach

i fear it more (probably irrationally) because I see him as this guy who thinks he "broke in" to the football fraternity.  he's a farging accountant and he somehow has a NFL personnel job.  i just have this weird feeling that he'll try to hire someone like him, little experience, off the beaten path hire.

The next two or three coaches, probably.

i felt that way from the second he was hired...it easily was the worst move of the lurie era way worse than juan

i dont know what you mean by off the beaten path....a college coordinator?...a college HC who hasnt won much?...a good college coach who no one thought of?....chip kelly?...a lesser known pro coordinator?

i dont think its going to be anyone totally crazy as i think lurie will be the lead in the search

maybe this is naive wishful thinking but i think howie goes with andy and lurie hires a completely new regime

I was fine with hating Howie and now you introduce some new hope that will undoubtedly lead to more disappointment. Thanks, jerk.

i mean, they hired an accountant to be their GM.  i think he'll want to hire the farging stat guy from Lousiana Monroe as head coach because they guy has a new way of looking at things.

howie was 100% a banner hire/guy....still on luries watch and ultimately he deserves blame for it...but i dont think lurie himself does something like that when it comes to the coach

if he keeps howie around and lets howie influence him and that happens then just fold the franchise...and start over...but thats not even a slight worry for me

If Reid had beat the Patriots in the Superbowl or even made the superbowl vs. Pittsburgh...does Reid get a pass this season from the fans?

If they won it against the Steelers, he'd get more of a pass.

He'd still be on the hook for all those NFCCG losses. Carolina and Arizona especially.

Tomahawk

Not from this fan. The Super Bowl against the Pats was literally eons ago and the Eagles barely even made the playoffs in 2008 (9-6-1; say whaaa? regular season football games can end in a tie?? weird) before they lost yet another NFCCG.

Sgt PSN

I've been thinking all season that Reid was in the final year of his contract.  But apparently there's a big difference between his contract running "through 2013" and "to 2013."  Sometimes when you want something so badly the mind will manipulate simple the actual meaning of simple words or phrases to suit your needs.

I'm still 99% certain he's gone at the end of the year.  But now there's that 1% of doubt that has crept into my mind thinking that Lurie may give him a do over.
