And you're being ridiculous if you don't think Reid is gone. There isn't a chance in hell he is here after the season.

Who is this directed towards? J...Rome?

PhillyGirl

both.

Money talks. Lurie WILL start to see money lost (more than he is starting to). It is holiday season and guaranteed they're not selling even half the jerseys they've sold in the past 15 years. It was not even this bad when they were 3-13 with Ray Rhodes.

General_Failure

Surely this holiday season they're riding high on a wave of Danny Watkins jersey sales!

The man. The myth. The legend.

I don't think merchandising means much in the NFL. I believe each licensed item sold goes to the NFL and NFLPA for distribution to each team. I remember Runyan saying this at one point.

If advertising dollars, ticket sales and stadium concessions fall then he takes note. But the ticket sales will still be strong because those who don't renew will be replaced by the people on the waiting list.

And if they decide to keep Andy and make other changes (veteran DC and other roster moves) by the time camp rolls around the interest will still be high.

So I don't think it's far fetched to think he will return for another season.

PhillyGirl

It means plenty, Jay. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

The Jets/Eagles game at the Linc will be 75% Jets fans. That will KILL Patriot Jeff. JETS fans taking over HIS house? ha!

No, any fan out there will see through the band aid that will be a new DC. The defense isn't the only problem. CLearly.

then the skins game at the end of the year is going to be a boo-fest morgue

i hope it snows and someone (sunmo?) throws an ice pellet at andy's skull
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Rome

The more I say Reid is going nowhere the better a chance there is he'll be gone.

Telling ya... SCIENCE.

What I think/hope will happen, is that Lurie shows Roseman the door, and moves Andy up to his GM spot. Then Andy can hire his own coach. I think Andy would be a good GM.

What makes you think Andy would be a good GM? Honest question because I just don't see it. It's not like the Eagles had been stellar at drafting before Roseman came along and you know Heckert wasn't running the show before he got run out of town. I want Andy no where close to this team unless he's a QB coach... and even then maybe.

fans dont buy jerseys because of the coach they buy jerseys because the team wins...and reid (with a new dc) has as much chance to win 10 games next year with this team as anyone else on the planet does

and dont underestimate the stubborness of banner inc....with the tornado of calls for reids head in the city especially when it comes to wip...whom banner inc considers the devil himself...i cannot see reid leaving at this point...id put it at 70-30 he stays...the last thing on earth banner inc would ever ever ever ever want to is be perceived as having made the move because of the fans/wip...i suspect what happenes is reid finishes out his current deal then moves on and they all say this was always the plan win or lose

Never won a god damned thing.

Exactly

His resume is impressive but he spent over a decade in one spot and never won squat. We already have a coach like that here. Just swap offense for defense. I'll pass on Fisher, I'd rather they went with an unknown than him to be honest.

im not pimping fisher specifically but its ridiculous to say ________ has never won anything....as a reason not to hire them...

no coach has ever won a superbowl with two different teams...where as you have people like vermeil dungy stram gruden who won with new teams

again thats not a backing of any one candidate....the point is theres no magic formula for finding a good coach...gruden won a superbowl fisher hasnt...is one better than the other?....bill parcells was the coach at air force with no nfl ties whatsoever tom flores was a superbowl winning assistant coach under john madden...parcells was the better coach...mike ditka was hall of fame player and a long time assistant under tom landry...mike tomlin never played in the nfl and was the vikings defensive coordinator for one season...

point is you cant make blanket judgements that would eliminate any particular head coach...

heres a general step by step that id abide by:

1. first decide what side of the ball you want your hire to come from (imo it has to be defensive for the eagles)
2. check the resume
3. get testimonials from others
4. interview
5. hire
6. ensure you have a PP that gives him the right players
7. pray like hell

Reid isn't going anywhere.  They owe him 10 million goddamn dollars.  Do you think Lurie wants to part with that sort of cash and pay another coach something similar?

We're all stuck with this oaf, so deal with it.

1. they only owe reid money if hes fired...if its a mutually decision or andy quits no loot
2. they dont pay him when he gets hired by another team which wil happen approximate 12 hours after he gone from philly
3. short of hiring a cowher and giving him full reign i dont think their coach is making anywhere close to the 5 mil range...remember reid gets paid for being a GM as well
4. say what you want about banner inc but they arent cheap

in short money doesnt have a god damn thing to do with this

I have pretty much come to the conclusion that whoever takes over will send me into a rage that will trump anything Reid ever did as a coach. It will probably be Marty, who is basically Reid yet more submissive. The real decision makers on the Eagles are Lurie and Howie now. Nothing will change. This team is so farged.

The problem here is that Reid is clearly still someone the players want to fight for. If they bring in someone who won't fight Banner and Roseman, things could only get worse.

Oh well. fargitall

I'll throw this out there:

You're Lurie and you fire Reid. You have your pick of whatever coach is out there, do you give an unknown like a coordinator a shot or do you go with an established guy?

Second part depending on which one you chose is who are you hiring? My number 1 choice would be Bill Cowher. His style fits the NFC East and he's the opposite of Reid and his finesse bullshtein.

Coordinator is higher on the organizational chart than the FO will go. If Reid is fired, prepare yourself for an unknown positional coach

Seriously. This team looks to have mailed it in since the Bears game. I keep hearing how these guys love Reid and Asante said Thursday night that "they have his back" but their performance on the field says the exact opposite.

The inmates (insert racist comment here) are running the asylum. That's what happens when you have no leadership in the locker room. At some point Reid has to realize this and address this issue by pulling someone aside and making it known they are the leader, the head coach is also the boss, Reid definitely has his players backs but at some point someone in the locker room has to take the initiative to rally the troops. Vick should be the guy but he's immature and will never be the type of guy to hold other players accountable.
