why is it good for riggleman...he quit on his team he quit on his contract and he quit on the fans...last time i checked jim riggleman wasnt sparky anderson...who the farg is he to give ultimatums...one last person he quit on was himself...and in doing that he sabotaged possible future jobs...if you have the nationals turning around are the hottest team in the entire major leagues and above .500 this late for the first time in six years dont you think thats a pretty good resume builder?....so even if they didnt pick up your option after this year you would still have a great shot at an offseason vacancy...now whos gonna hire him?

for real, two weeks of hot baseball doesn't guarantee you a new contract.

he did go out boozing in bethesda last night though. thats kinda cool.

Who cares about Riggleman or his future. farg that guy. I just think its awesome that he got cranky and told his management to shove it.

Me too; I like that he stuck it to his boss after his boss was being a fleshpop.

But as far as quitting on the team and fans and honoring his contract? Teams don't honor contracts when they fire a guys ass, so this is the reverse side of it.

All accounts I've read is that Rizzo and the Lerner's are douchebags and Rizzo wouldn't even agree to sit down and talk with the guy.

That should be evident simply based on the fact that the Nats have been zesty from day 1.

This.  I mentioned earlier that had Rizzo offered to talk to him about it over the AS break, then it probably would have been good enough for Riggleman....assuming that Rizzo would follow through with it. 

Simply on a principle standpoint, it's pretty awesome what he did.  But it's probably the dumbest farging thing I've heard of a person doing.  He not only left a few hundred k on the table but it's going to be damn hard for him to get another managing job for quite some time.  And he's almost certainly not getting hired in any capacity mid-season.  So now he's unemployed for the next few months.  Guess he can always join BBTN or something. 

So the Nats have had a good 2 or 3 week run.  Ok.  Get them on a good 2 or 3 month run and then you've got a legit reason to want to talk contracts.  I hope he likes being a base coach or has a desire to work in the minors because I think that's about the best he's going to get for the time being.
