teams know they weren't going into the season with him, that was a fact. why would you trade anything for a guy you know will be released?

Exactly. Hold him until TC to see if there are any injuries and unload him for a higher price and if not, release him then. Same farging thing as getting the Mr. Irrelevant pick.

number one no you dont hold onto someone just to try and get a 6th round pick instead of a 7th...thats the most retarded thing ive ever heard...the guy was going to be cut period...there was no market for him now and there was gonna be no market for him in a couple months...

what if he blew out his knee in a camp...then youre on the hook for a crapload of money this year...

what if there was less of a market in a couple months as there is now which is fully possible since teams will have already filled out their rosters with their draft picks and entering camp with your rosters ready to roll...then you have to realease him and get hit with 2 million in dead money...not a ton but no reason to do that when you can rid his contract cleanly...

also how uncomfortable would training camp be with him there knowing hes not going to be on the team and thus having to go thru the motions at a camp of a team hes not gonna be on playing practicing at a position he despises (the slot)...he was salty last year at camp and thruout the season because of the presence of assy...it would be a shtein show this year

number two its not an extra 7th as they had no 7th rounder before the trade

i love how the people who kill the eagles for not being able to make a successful second round pick are now furious because they got a 7th instead of a 6th for assante...like thats gonna make a god damn difference at all with howie picking

im honestly baffled in general that people are focusing on the pick they got...there was zero market for the guy...his play is declining hes old not a great teammate and made a shteinload of money...you think the eagles were offered a 3 and turned it downt o take a 7th??

if you are angry about the trade because you want him as your starting corner this year on the eagles and instead wanted DRC traded or cut or assy traded (not possible) then fine but who the farg cares about the pick

I'm fine with them moving Asante. I understand why they're doing it and even think it's a good idea. But there's nothing that said they had to get rid of him right now. If a 7th is all that's out there now, you can hold onto him and if someone gets hurt later, you can pawn him off for a higher pick. If nothing like that happens... cut him.

The man was almost gone last year for a 2nd and/or 3rd. Now one year later, his value is a 7th?? Come on...
