It's an early-ish Sunday morning show.  I don't think it was ever a ratings animal. I do admit though that I haven't watch but a few times since Saunders passed away. 

Looks like it's being replaced by E:60.

a show like that is never going to be a huge hit but back in the day it was one of their most popular entities...when youd have dick schapp hosting lupica kornheiser conlin and albom on any given week...it basically was meet the press for sports fans...i used to live for it....then it was never the same after schapp died

now people want yelling and screaming debate shows....so between that and having a show called sports reporters that didnt have  sports reporters on it you basically had no audience anymore

Yep. Yelling and screaming and manufactured debate. It's awful.

I don't care for Lupica or Albom at all but when Dick Schapp was on it was great. Especially when they'd get Bill Conlin all riled up.

NFL matchup should be on another time other than 330am too but again it is too cerebral for the cranial lump ESPN audience

Oh, most definitely.  There's always going to be drop off after a legend retires/passes, but I do think that Saunders carried that torch fairly well.  I remember wondering to myself after he passed away how much longer the show would survive. 

Guess it's just OTL for me on Sunday mornings then.  E:60 has never done much for me.  Every now and then they hit a subject that I'm interested in, but I swear just about every episode I've seen (which isn't many) is about sick and dying kids who love sports.

The Sports Reporters was to ESPN like Yo! MTV Raps or 120 Minutes was to MTV, it was a well done program that represented exactly what the network was created to do. And like those it got diluted and shteintier and eventually faded into the background as the network changed its focus to broadcasting pure garbage to people with ADHD.

it served no purpose anymore and i honestly didnt know it was on. there was a time where it was great but those days are 20 years ago.
