That's not hard. I do that every time without even trying.

Yeah, I honestly don't remember the last time I was able to walk or run without any type of noticable pain.  Maybe 2004?

The missus wants us to do a 5k in September and a half marathon in February. Now I need to know how to get started and avoid killing my knees and my feet... Maybe suggestions for the best running shoes would be a start. Then some sort of training regimen. Then the easiest way to off myself because I'm actually considering this.

I don't know anything about running shoes, but taking the easiest way out is for hoydas. A 1.75 liter bottle of Jack and drowning in your own vomit is a respectable way to go.

Can it be Crown Royal?

It's your death, not a coronation. No.

I use New Balance 991's.    Best running shoes I've ever used.   I also have a pair of the Asics Gel Kayano's but I only wear them if I'm doing extremely light training on the beach.  They don't have enough support for pavement or bridge training.

Registered for the Philly Marathon this morning.

I may need to seek professional help......

Here's the problem I have with marathons and half marathons and even itty bitty 5k's......people pay really good $ to run in them.  Guessing it cost close to $100 for registration.  For what?  A t-shirt and some gatorade at the finish line?  Farg that.  Running is dumb enough as it is and I hate doing it so I'll be damned if I actually pay to run around town for 5 hours.

Although, I did pay for the warrior dash last year, but it was only like $35 and I got a viking helmet, free beer and a pretty cool party afterwards.  3 miles of crazy obstacles in like 30 minutes followed up with 3 hours of crazy drinking.

Almost every run I've done so far, money is donated from the registration fee. The Run the Bridge funds The Larc School. One of the 5ks I did goes to the Fox Chase Cancer Center and so on. None of the 5ks are over 25.00 so far. I've gotten pretty nice shirts or hooded sweatshirts. Run the Bridge you got a long sleeve shirt and medal along with all of the food you can eat afterward....water bottles, bagels, oranges, bags of snacks, bananas, etc.

I also have done a $5.00 5k locally that runs every Sunday at 1pm. That money is just to fund the running club meetings (where food/drink is made available...along with fun prizes for placing in age groups).

So what am I supposed to do to start this couch to 5k? Just run as far as I can every day until I'm running 5k? I'm confused.

that site has all of the links you'll need. Don't download any programs that you have to pay for, its a rip off and the chart is there with the instructions. You can download podcasts with the voice prompts when to walk and run or if you have an iPhone, you can get the app for it that will do the same thing with your music playing in the background.

Pretty much. But you literally have to be sitting on your couch, then get up, then run 5k.

Literally.

Running shoes are for Hoydas; if you kick enough ass on the regular, your feet are calloused enough to run barefooted
