Who would want the big kid? With his issues, are we going to get anything out of it. I'd rather him figure it out on the sideline than ship him for nothing and then have him figure it out elsewhere

I'm even more impressed with this offseason after a very solid draft. In one offseason the Eagles have:

1. Replaced both starting tackles with young, talented players who could be even better at this point in their careers
2. Added depth at S and talent to the special teams via free agency (Jones, Baker) and the draft (Macho)
3. Signed the best free agent FB
4. Drafted the consensus #2 wideout and an excellent return man at 19
5. Drafted one of the top 3-5 RBs in the draft and a guy who fits their system perfectly in the late 2nd
6. Absolutely stold Cornelius Ingram in the 5th round
7. They're already loaded with draft picks for 2010

This is all just on paper and they need to gel and show it on the field, but I don't see any way this offseason is less than an A.

no knock on the kid, but I wouldnt declare "steal" of anyone that didnt play all of last season in college--especially now since he might still need surgery on his ACL, will be most likely be put on legit IR for his first year

but I agree the Eagles moves have been surprising on paper so far

Ill give him the benefit of the doubt and attribute that to the d and e being very close together

BigEd76

or he meant "stealed"

and remember Ikegwuonu was considered a steal this time last year (yes I know the injury situations are slightly different)

Who's that? I used to work for a healthcare trade magazine out in the suburbs and now I'm a copywriter for an architecture firm in the city. If someone here is really looking to get into journalism I'd be happy to try to help a fellow Eagles fan.

pretty big news here...especially as far as mini camps go

http://www.philly.com/dailynews/sports/20090502_Eagles_-_Shawn_Andrews__not_brother_Stacy_gets_look_at_tackle_for_Eagles.html

THE JERSEY of the Eagles' right tackle this season probably will feature "ANDREWS" written across a wide pair of shoulders.
But it might not be the Andrews we expected.

Coach Andy Reid made it clear yesterday that Shawn Andrews is not just a minicamp fill-in for his brother, Stacy, the right tackle the Birds signed in free agency.

"I'm going to give Shawn an opportunity at the right tackle spot," Reid said after the first workout for the 2009 season. "I know Stacy can go inside and compete with Nick [Cole, at right guard]."
