KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Texas Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla has tested positive for swine flu, though his symptoms are subsiding and he's expected to make his next start.
Padilla was scratched from his start Wednesday against Boston due to flulike symptoms, and lab reports Friday indicated he had H1N1 Type A influenza.
Several Rangers players have been hit with the flu this week, causing the team to delay its flight to Kansas City from Thursday to Friday morning in order to provide additional recovery time. Texas catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia was scratched from Friday night's game due to the flu.
Padilla has responded well to medication and threw a bullpen session in Kansas City on Friday. He's expected to start Tuesday against Detroit.

Royals right fielder Jose Guillen could miss up to 10 weeks due to a torn right knee ligament sustained while trying to put on a shin guard during a game.

Guillen was injured in the second inning of Wednesday's 9-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels, saying he felt his knee pop while bending over to put on a shin guard before his first at-bat. He was taken to the hospital during the game and test results showed a partially torn lateral collateral ligament.

commish looking at reinstating rose

if i've said it once, i've said it a thousand times.  as unseemly as betting on baseball is, pete rose did this as a manager after he retired from the game and his actions as a manager should not affect his accomplishments as a player.

if you want to keep rose from working in baseball, that's fine.  but one of the greatest players in the game should not be excluded from the hof because of what he did after his playing days were over.

im not saying you specifically cause i dont know if you truly care or are just giving your opinion...but in general i dont know why it matters if hes in the hall of fame to anyone but pete rose and maybe his close family....its such a played out non story its ridiculous....everyone knows how good he is and that hes a hall of famer....why the farg do people care so much that hes "in" the HOF

doesn't really matter to me personally.  i saw him play and break the hit record.  but i think that for historical purposes, it would be a shame for people to go to the hof in 50+ years and not see pete rose in it. 

not to mention that i just think it's wrong that he's being punished as a player for something he did as a manager.  it's the princicpality!
