QuoteFullback deal could be in the works for Eagles
By LES BOWEN
Philadelphia Daily News

bowenl@phillynews.com

One of the mysteries of free agency thus far is that the Eagles haven't done anything to address their fullback situation.

That mystery might be getting closer to being solved.

Harold Lewis, agent for ex-Seattle free-agent fullback Leonard Weaver, confirmed last night that he is talking to the Birds about a deal for his client.

"We're still in talks with the Eagles, and with a few other teams," Lewis said. "Hopefully, we're going to get something done [in Philadelphia], but it would be premature to tell you that."

Weaver, 26, might be too good to be true, from the perspective of fans who have long hungered for a power running option. He's a fullback who can actually carry the ball here and there - 30 times for 130 yards last season, while catching 20 passes for 222 yards. At 6-0, 242, he has played fullback and halfback in an offense very similar to what the Eagles run.

Before free agency started, many observers felt the Eagles might have interest in Weaver - probably the best fullback on the market - given his age and potential. It was a mild surprise nothing happened early, but the first days of free agency tend to be for big-money deals, and fullback is not a big-money position.

Terms for Tra?

Something called jocklife.com says it has obtained the terms of Tra Thomas' contract in Jacksonville. The site says the former Eagles left offensive tackle will make $2.5 million to $3 million per year for 3 years, with the chance to make $4.5 million to $5 million if the incentives are triggered. *

I love the idea of bringing in a real FB in theory. In reality he will only see about 18% of the offensive snaps, be incredibly effective and vastly underused and I will still want to urinate in Andy Reid's eye sockets after every game.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

T. Holt: wants to go to a contender. reports of interest from Ravens, Titans, Panthers, Giants.

and

Holt and Little may both be released soon.

Little released today.

And yeah, fat farg should be in jail.  I'm continually amazed that he still has hero status in this town...

Premature news release.  Little hasn't been released yet.  Huge news, I know.

weaver is a fullback who hasnt quite mastered the art of blocking...pretty sure hes a converted TE  and thats why reid is looking at him to catch the ball...since we know he isnt going to be running many sets out of the power eye

ill take him tho...even a hint that reid is taking the position seriously is good enough for me and i had no idea he was only 26...he still has a lot of time to get better
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

I'd love the move. There's no legitimate reason not to get it done: they have tons of money, it's a clear position of need and even the highest-paid fullbacks don't take that much cap space. It would be embarrassing not to get it done.

being that hes a former te hes really athletic for a fullback...if he can improve on his blocking they might have something...if he signs of course

I had no idea he was 26 either.  He's better than anything they have, anyone who is available, and likely anyone in the draft in terms of an immediate impact, so I don't see how it can hurt.
