QuoteSource: A Dozen Teams Interested in Buckhalter
CSNPhilly.com

It won't be easy for the Eagles to keep running back Correll Buckhalter.

A league source has informed Comcast SportsNet's Derrick Gunn that at least 12 teams have shown interest in Buckhalter, who becomes an unrestricted free agent on Feb. 27.

The Giants, Rams, Titans, Broncos, Texans, Lions, Buccaneers and Jaguars have expressed the most interest. Selected in the fourth round of the 2001 draft, the 30-year-old Buckhalter has spent his entire career with the Eagles – but has started only 16 games.

He wants a chance to be a starter.

Last season, Buckhalter proved that he's more than just a dependable backup for Brian Westbrook. In addition to averaging 4.9 yards per rush, Buckhalter set career highs in receiving with 26 catches for 324 yards and two touchdowns.

The Eagles define a "big play" as a rush of at least 10 yards, a pass of at least 20 yards or a return of at least 30. Westbrook had 21 such plays last season. Buckhalter had 15 – despite receiving 185 fewer touches.

Including the playoffs, the Eagles went 6-1 this season when Buckhalter recorded at least six touches. They went 3-6-1 when he didn't (he missed two games with a sprained knee).

Elsewhere, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, coach Andy Reid suggested that team intends to re-sign safety Brian Dawkins and left tackle Tra Thomas. Both are scheduled to become free agents on Feb. 27.

"I think that'll all take place within the next few days or week or whatever," Reid told the newspaper. "There's communication."

Reid currently is attending the scouting combine in Indianapolis.

Titans - Lendale White & Chris Johnson
Giants - Brandon Jacobs & Ahmad Bradshaw
Rams - Steven Jackson
Broncos - no one
Texans - Steve Slaton
Lions - Kevin Smith
Bucs - Ernest Graham
Jaguars - Maurice Jones--Drew

Not a whole lot of starting opportunities there; but I think its pretty much a foregone conclusion that Buck is going to leave. I really like him because of his blocking and he's turned into a reliable guy to have behind Westbrook. But they simply do not use him very much.

General_Failure

If he leaves to the Raiders and leads the league in rushing, I think I'll stop watching.

I'm getting a Hanson jersey and cod piece.

Eagaholic

I like that idea. I'm going to get a number 21 jersey that says "Sackmaster" on the back.

Don Ho

Buckhalter's not going to start anywhere.  I love the guy and hope he's back as he has proven he's a warrior.  He's going to score a nice bonus and end up somewhere like Houston or St. Louis.  Tampa Bay would also be a nice fit for him.

He would be perfect in Houston, I think. Whatever, thanks for learning to block and catch the ball after your knees removed the possibility of being a featured back, Buck. Thanks for almost making a difference in the St. Louis NFCCG. Thanks for smoking a little squeef. Good luck and shtein.

A more perfect sendoff than that is impossible.

General_Failure

Well, he could retire as an Eagle. They could give him a nice sendoff at halftime, let him ride out of the stadium on a new Rascal.

Marvin Harrison asking for his release that will save $7 million in Colts cap space

not that he is burning by anybody on his seam routes, but Id take him as another set of solid hands in this offense and hes probably looking to come home to Philly

Schefter speculating already

QuotePosted: Adam Schefter | Adam Schefter | Tags: Bill Polian, Indianapolis Colts, Marvin Harrison

After the two sides couldn't agree on a restructured contract, WR Marvin Harrison asked the Colts to release him, a league source said Sunday night.

As much as the team would rather not — and Colts president Bill Polian acknowledged Sunday that it's a tricky situation — Harrison is a luxury that Indianapolis can no longer afford.

Now that Harrison has declined to restructure his contract, the Colts have little choice but to let him and his $13.4 million salary-cap number go. It will mark the end of an illustrious 13-year career in Indianapolis, where Harrison and QB Peyton Manning formed one of the greatest quarterback-receiver tandems in NFL history.

Already the speculation about where Harrison will land is beginning. For starters, Harrison is determined to continue playing. A logical landing spot would be the receiver-needy Philadelphia Eagles, where Harrison would be reunited with his former Syracuse teammate, QB Donovan McNabb, while getting to play in the city where he lives.

If this was 3-4 years ago... let's do this.  I'd pass now though... unless he came on the real, REAL cheap, which doesn't look like that'll be the case since he doesn't want to restructure to stay in Indy.
