Greg Lewis?

His post game interview was farging hilarious. All deer in headlights looking, and talking like a methed-out Buckwheat.
"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.""  R.I.P George.

QuoteCornerback William James was glad to help the Lions win for the first time since 2007. He also was happy to be starting for the first time since Oct. 5, 2008.

"It felt good to be out there with the fellas and felt good to get a win," said James, who finished with two tackles and one pass break-up. "Personally, to start was a great thing because that's what I've been working to get back to."

James started in place of Phillip Buchanon in Sunday's 19-14 victory over Washington. James made a case to continue starting.

"We were happy with what Will did in the game," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said Monday. "He's a veteran player; he has starting experience in the league, he's got size and he's done a really good job in this scheme."

James, 30, is in his ninth NFL season. A third-round pick in 2001 from Western Illinois, he spent his first five seasons with the Giants. His best season was 2004, when he made 68 tackles in 16 games with 11 pass defenses and two interceptions. He played with the Eagles in 2006 and '07 and with the Jaguars in '08. He came to the Lions hoping to help turn around a team and in the process regain a starting job.

"You can't think about the past," he said. "You gotta take this season for what it is. It's a new opportunity. It's a new opportunity for this organization. It's a new opportunity for me."

QuotePanthers sign Hollis Thomas
Posted by Tom Curran on October 1, 2009 11:22 AM ET

The reeling Panthers made a move to shore up their defensive line Thursday, signing 15-year veteran Hollis Thomas, according to Steve Reed at Carolina Growl.com.

Thomas was released Wednesday by the Rams. That the Panthers swooped in so quickly to gobble up the table droppings of the 0-3 Rams is evidence of the deep funk the Panthers are in. And it's a funk that extends beyond the so far horrific play of quarterback Jake Delohomme.

The Panthers have struggled to find a replacement along their defensive front since losing Maake Kemoeatu in training camp with a torn Achilles. Kemoeatu's backup, Louis Leonard broke an ankle in Week 2. The 35-year-old Thomas, who played the bulk of his career with Philadelphia, had four tackles for the Rams in three games as a reserve.

QuoteNew Panthers  defensive tackle Hollis Thomas said today after his first practice with the team that he hopes to bring "a little levity, a little thickness in  the middle" to the Panthers' defense, which ranks 29th in the league in run defense (182.7 yards allowed per game).

He said also wants to take the attention of absentee defensive tackles Maake Kemoeatu and Louis Leonard, who both are out for the season with injuries.

"Everybody wants to be focusing on the other fat guys; (now) they'll focus on the new fat guy," he said.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
