A.J. Feeley has to be the most content backup quarterback in NFL history. When he was traded to the Dolphins by the Eagles in 2004, it was clear he would have preferred to stay in Philadelphia as a backup rather than get a starting shot in Miami. And after signing with Carolina this week, he said he has zero interest in supplanting Jake Delhomme as the starter.

"Hopefully, I don't have to play this year," he said. "That's kind of the plan, that things will go the way everyone wants it to go with Jake playing."

Feeley struggled in Miami trying to learn an offense that was nothing like the Eagles' West Coast. Now, he has to learn the Panthers' offense, which also is very dissimilar in terminology and just about everything else from what the Eagles run.

"There's a learning curve with learning a new offense," Feeley said. "Hopefully it comes to me sooner than later. I can't give you a timetable. If I have to play, I have to play. But hopefully that's not the case.

BOOKER, CURTIS WORK OUT FOR BILLS

Former Eagles Lorenzo Booker and Tony Curtis worked out for the Buffalo Bills on Friday, according to both Adam Schefter and Adam Caplan.

According to Shefter's Twitter feed, the Bills also brought in running back De De Dorsey and tight ends Joe Klopfenstein and Leonard Pope.

Bucs pulling the 54-man roster trick?

In a somewhat surprising move (on the surface), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have cut veteran linebacker Matt McCoy.

McCoy started the Week One game against the Cowboys after Geno Hayes clocked in late, and McCoy was listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants.

To take his place, the Bucs have signed receiver Mario Urrutia from the pratice squad.

Given that McCoy is a vested veteran and that the trading deadline has not yet passed, McCoy could be re-signed as soon as Monday or Tuesday.  Since he possibly wasn't going to play anyway, the move allows the Bucs to essentially expand the roster by one body, creating a spot for Urrutia and dropping a guy who wasn't going to play, anyway.

The Titans used this maneuver last year, cutting quarterback Chris Simms on a Saturday and re-signing him the following week.  With the transaction coming on a Saturday, the player still gets his game check.

That said, McCoy is an unrestricted free agent, and he can sign with any team he wants.  But if the Bucs have designs on bringing him back, it's unlikely that they would have cut him if they weren't confident he'd stick around.
