Apparently when you have Gagne, and Lupul out, it affects scoring.  IGY you really might be right, this team has been an enigma all year.  Now with the concussions that they got last night, its going to get very interesting

The positive i see is that they become sellers.

TSN reporting Forsberg isn't returning to the NHL this year

so apparently all hell broke loose for the flyers today.  Forsberg supposedly is done, They called up Giroux, the the NHL said he cant come up as an injury replacement and they have to bring up a phantom, then the NHL says its ok to bring him up. 

Downie is concussed and out day to day

Hatcher out 3 weeks

Lupul out 2-3 weeks. 

It really sucks because if you look back at this team, they barely had any time together as a full roster.

the sad thing about this team is that they didnt build it with any talent...the caps and penguins are the blue print for building in this nhl...look at the off the charts young talent each has...ovechkin malkin crosby semin ect...and the flyers have who?....richards who i love but hes blue collar....other than that its get your hands dirty type people....the players that they would consider skilled are not that good...scottie upshall and jeff carter???....gimme a break

The caps combined sucking ass and getting lucky that talent like Ovechkin/Crosby/Malkin were available. The Flyers just happened to suck ass the year the draft was weak...although in 3 or 4 years JVR might be half decent. He's like having money in the bank.

how many europeans do the flyers have on their roster and say top 25 prospects....not nearly enough...they instead go after players like steve downie scott hartnell mike knuble jvr richards carter ect...giroux is the only talent ladened guy they own right now

Pittsburgh had a top 2 pick four years in a row (and a top 5 for five years in a row if you include 2002).  That's why they're loaded.

lots of the same teams have top picks for several years in a row....not all hit on their players

its not about that its about an overall philosophy and the flyers is flawed compared to many other teams
its why so many teams skate circles around them...montreal builds the right way...so does buffalo...so does detroit...and these teams dont have top picks every year

Holmgren has been GM for one draft.  Give him a chance.  He made great trades last year at the deadline and so far JVR looks like the real deal.

BTW, who won the Cup last year?  Oh yeah...big rugged defensive team

Anaheim won a cup with talent like the flyers.  Give them time, they are loaded with prospects and players.  It does suck that the year when the flyers truely suck, they are the worst team in the league, yet cant even win the lottery for the first overall pick.  Kane would have been very nice.  JVR is tearing the NCAA up right now, but he's no Kane.  Like Ed said, the Penguins stocked up on first round top 3 picks, the rest of their drafts have sucked, but when you pick as early as they did, you are going to get superstar talent unlike what the Flyers have been drafting around 20-27.

"players" does not equal talent

and easy what were the "great" trades holmgren made...smart trades maybe taking advantage of teams that couldnt resign players but i dont see any greatness in them...scott hartnell and scottie upshall?...coburn is decent enough but hes nothing special and wouldnt qualify as great

exactly...hes the precise kind of player that will dominate in college where the talent level is low but wont translate to the nhl...were he in the juniors or on the canadien national team hed just be another prospect....but now hes the second coming cause hes scoring some goals in the ncaa


i hope he turns out to be a sniper but ill believe it when i see it
