Top 10, your Pens aren't in there.  The Caps are, but again it comes down to how early they are drafting.

the Flyers had a top 2 pick last year and what did they pick, big ass John LeClair looking mother farger...he may be good, but it shows you that their overall philosophy hasn't changed...bigger is better

exactly...hes the precise kind of player that will dominate in college where the talent level is low but wont translate to the nhl...were he in the juniors or on the canadien national team hed just be another prospect....but now hes the second coming cause hes scoring some goals in the ncaa

i hope he turns out to be a sniper but ill believe it when i see it
he was the points leader in the World Jr.'s so he's produced against the worlds best at his age.  Believe me i was pissed they took him at #2, but i wanted Turris and he's been decent but no where near the level of JVR at both the NCAA level and the World Tourney

right....everyone is lucky and the flyers are unlucky

how many europeans do the flyers have on their roster and say top 25 prospects....not nearly enough...they instead go after players like steve downie scott hartnell mike knuble jvr richards carter ect...giroux is the only talent ladened guy they own right now

Take away Ovechkin/Malkin/Crosby from the Pens and Caps then compare their roster to the Flyers. Take away the aforementioned players and both teams are in the cellar by a longshot.

As for Coburn he's so young and has so much untapped potential that it's not even funny. He's without a doubt a future star.

I'd rather have a Thachuk/Leclair power forward type then I would a Mogiliny type. There were no Kovalchuk/Ovechkin/Crosby/Malkin type players in this years draft so they took the best player they could, who would you have preferred they take Turris or Cherapanov?

hes 23 not 18...kind of ironic that you down play a team having a malkin or ovechkin and at the same time proclaim braydon
coburn a stone cold lock star

Defensemen do not usually hit their prime until 25-27.  Guys like Phaneuf are the exception, and who i'd trade for in a second.

Like IGY said before the season and everyone thought, this team is built for the long run.  The way they played this year was surprising, but with the amount of injuries they are at, losing Lupul and Gagne who are two potential 30+ goal scorers, its going to be tough to score, and with considering how banged up their D is.

I always wanted a Jaroslov, he was really good back in the day, but he's basically a replacement for Hatch.  His contract is up at the end of the year so unless they traded a high pick which it doesnt sound like, looks like a decent deal.

So is or isn't your argument the Flyers just happened to suck ass the year there was no bonafide star in the draft? Seems to me the Pens and Caps 'rebuilding' just so happens to be around players they got for sucking ass.

When did I ever downplay a team having a Malkin or Ovechkin? If you can't see Coburn's upside then you need to start paying attention.

The only positive I can take from getting Modry is he can't be any worse then Vandermeer.
