I swear it looked like the Pirates intentionally gave up two runs to Coste just to make sure that he'd bat for Alfonseca in the bottom of the 8th.

Actually, Mesa hasn't been bad at all since the All-Star break.  He farged up the other night against the Nats but other than that game, he's only given up two hits in his last 8 appearances.

Mesa could have been out of that inning if: a. Wes Helms wasn't a butcher, b. Zagurski didnt suck, c. Manuel had a brain.
