perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Phlash looked dominant tonight.  He gave up a single but otherwise he mowed the Pirates down easily with two strikeouts.

What, no posts on the 8-run explosion by the Phils, courtesy of a botched Pirate double-play ball, a Coste homer and a Rollins triple?

Also, apparently Coste is coming out with an autobiography soon.  When does the movie come out?

Myers comes in and has an easy 1-2-3 9th.

Bums win 10-5.

Just scored a free ticket for tuesday night (from some teachers in my school district). The thing is the one who called me said they wanted to ask me cause they wanted to see how long it would take for me to get into an arguement with other cub fans, but who cares a free ticket at Wrigley to watch my bullpen blow a game, ahhhh I can't wait.

Fantastic.  I got to go to one game in Wrigley when my wife and I vacationed in Chicago (our last kids-free vacation).  It is, by far, the absolute best ballpark experience I have ever had.  I've been to Fenway, Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards, and a bunch of others, and Wrigley beat them all for atmosphere and overall fun (except for the Vet and CBP, but only because I'm a Phillies fan).

Since I saw the Cubs play the Mets, I was an honorary Cubs fan for the day.  I would have loved to see the Phils there, though.

i had fun at the game tonight and now and surprisingly drunk and have no kids tomorrow

I'm not sold on Bourne by any means, but Juan Pierre is not very good.  He hasn't had a good season in three years.  As a leadoff man, if he isn't going to hit for power, he needs to get on base.  He doesn't.   He hasn't had an OBP over .330 since '04, he hits for no power, his SB percentage isn't great, and he has a BRUTAL arm in CF.  He really is one of the most overpaid players in baseball.

SunMo

why does everyone insist on talking about Juan Pierre right now?

yeah, right now he's not very good, but he's had a pretty good career and if Bourn (no 'e', spell it right) can have a career that projects to Pierre's better years than that should be something that we should all be begging for.

bourn has already shown he can steal bases, play defense and throw in the outfield.  the only question remaining is whether he can produce offensively enough to warrant an everyday spot in the lineup.

Well, I'm jumping in late in the conversation, but I don't understand the love for Pierre.  He used to be a very good player, but he isn't anymore.  His better years (04 and prior) he posted OBP over .350, and yes I would like Bourn to regularly post those numbers, but I would not be begging for Bourn to become what Pierre is now.

Bourn posted a .380 OBP in the minors.  I think he can be a .360 OBP major league player.  And while he may never be a career .300 hitter, ill take the OBP improvement every day of the week, in addition to his better speed and arm versus what Pierre is now.

since you're coming in late, i'll give you the quick breakdown so you know why Pierre's name is being used...

some people like myself IGY and others think he can be a player who has a career similar to Juan Pierre's good years and others, i.e. billy beane and mds flat out think he suck and think he will be like Juan Pierre and that Juan Pierre sucks

so the past 3 days have been spent bickering about the merits of Juan Pierre's overall career.  one i think you would have to call good.  all in all it seems like a terrible waste of bandwith.

good recap, sunny sunny sun sun. you couldve made the argument to play bourn back when burrell was eating cornhole, but these days, patricia is just being super productive. and with rowing doing what he's doing, and victorino playing fairly solid, theres no room for him.

but i wouldnt hesitate to trade him, his stock is high and the follies really farging need another quality starting pitcher to compliment the king. oh wait, fat ass garcia might be able to start throwing in a few weeks. hope is on the way in the form of 300 lb sweating venezuelan. go team.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
