Morgan Ensberg got DFA'd by the Astros today.  Man - he was an All-Star two years ago and now he's basically out on his ass soon to be looking for a job.

It looks like the Bo Soxs are giving up some good prospects for Gagne.

Also, the Braves gave up another prospect in that deal for Teixera. Some prospect that has pretty good numbers pitching. They seemingly gave up a lot for Teixera. They must think very highly of him.

- Mets bullpen blew a 2-1 lead for Glavine.  NYM-MIL are in the 11th inning now.

I won't be surprised if the trade works out, but it definitely wasn't needed.

Unless Schuerholz believes:

1.  In a weak NL, the Braves are one big bat short of a World Series;
2.  This may be the last gasp for the Braves' run.

Exactly right. 

1. With no real marquis starters on the market... the Braves are trying to ride a big lineup and a bolstered bullpen through the NL to the series.

2. With Andruw on the way out and not knowing how long Smoltz and Jones will be playing at the top of their games... they're in win now mode.
