Well, the right has held the Presidency for 20 of the last 32 years and the 8 years Clinton was in office there was no deficit spending...in fact there was a surplus. The spending and debt started with Reagan, so wouldn't it be logical to blame the right?

In fact, the real story of the Clinton years is something the supporters of Rubinomics never expected -- the technology boom of the late 1990s. Although average business investment during the boom years was not exceptional, the Information Revolution helped trigger big gains in productivity and growth as early as 1996. History shows that it's possible to have a sustainable boom with high deficits, as Reagan did, just as it's possible to have a sustainable boom with higher taxes, as Clinton did. I believe this, you can't spend your way out of a deficit or recession. Cutting government spending is the best way to decrease the deficit. But liberals want more and more government, more taxes, and thats not going to do it.
