boston globe has been knocking it out of the park this campaign season

ryan stone cold busted...what i find most interesting about this and imo is getting buried by the lead is the fact that he asked for this money for green energy projects

http://www.bostonglobe.com/news/politics/2012/08/16/ryan/2OztjZ23ynaDLGhreyfzyJ/story.html

QuoteBut Thursday evening, Ryan acknowledged having sent the letters above his signature. "After having these letters called to my attention I checked into them, and they were treated as constituent service requests in the same way matters involving Social Security or Veterans Affairs are handled. This is why I didn't recall the letters earlier. But they should have been handled differently, and I take responsibility for that."

His supporters will obviously read this and say "Hey, they guy made an honest mistake and he's owning up to it.  It's so refreshing to hear a politician admit that he made a mistake.  You just don't see that these days.  No one is perfect except God but Paul Ryan is running a very close second.  I'm going to the bank right now to empty my savings account and donating it to his campaign.  Too bad he's married, otherwise I'd send him my first born daughter.  His hairline would be a welcome addition to our family."

Good times in fantasy land.

QuoteThe other goal has been a less familiar one. More and more, Republicans have exhibited a strong desire to take up residence in an imaginary world, an alternate reality—one in which global warming is found to be a fraud perpetrated by the world's top scientists, Obama turns out to have been born in Kenya and is a Muslim (and a socialist), budgets can be slashed without social pain, firing government employees reduces unemployment, tax cuts for the wealthy replenish government coffers, and so forth.

QuoteOften, the will to power and the will to fantasy go together. As the totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century discovered, the two can reinforce one another. Such seemed to be the explicit ambition of President George W. Bush's adviser Karl Rove when, at one giddy moment at the height of the Iraq War, he famously said that the Bush administration had delivered a coup de grâce to nothing less than "the reality-based community," for "we're an empire now, and when we act, we create reality." It was a classic statement of the totalitarian logic of the propaganda artist in power. What better way to win support for propaganda than to abolish the reality that contradicts it? Rove's boast was premature, but his logic was clear: If we don't like the real world, we can do away with it.

QuoteIn late July, John Hynansky — a longtime friend of Vice President Joe Biden, and a major donor to Biden's campaigns as well as President Barack Obama's — was awarded a $20 million taxpayer loan to build a foreign-car dealership in Ukraine.

According to a public summary document, the loan, from the federal government's Overseas Private Investment Corporation, is for "p to $20.0 million," and is designed to "expand Winner Import Ukraine's automobile business, [and] construct and operate 'Winner Autocity,' which will have two new, state-of-the-art dealership facilities for Porsche and Land

Honest Joe is at it again!!

So Republicans are the ones living in fantasy land?  Hasn't Obama been President for Four Years?  Hasn't a vast majority of his policies been an utter failure?  Isn't unemployment/underemployment still extremely high?    Isn't his signature piece of legislation, highly unpopular, as well as a job killer in the aforementioned bad economy?

But let's continue to blame Bush, or demand Mitt's tax records, or accuse Mitt of being responsible for a woman dying of cancer, or make ads of Paul Ryan pushing grandma off a cliff or Alan West punching grandma in the face.

Who is being delusional again?

Sorry, Munson just carried on about Biden being such a supremely honest politician.

Also, kind of ironic, with all those commercials about out-sourcing, that honest Joe helped his buddy build a car business overseas.

Sgt PSN

It's not really out-sourcing when the jobs were never available in the US to begin with.  Customer Service and Tech Support jobs get outsourced to Raj and Ahmed, car salesmen don't.  And I take it you have no idea what the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) really is.  In short, it's a gov't agency established in the 70s  designed to help American businesses expand into the overseas market.  It also operates at no net cost to the American tax payer.

Anything for a friend right?

When Munson said Biden is the most honest man in Washington I cracked up. The story posted by Hawk has nothing to do with my opinion of him or any party for that matter. Honesty and politics have no business being in the same sentence with each other...ever.

Decades and decades of mistrust, lies and empty promises from either party...yet people still need to step up on their soapbox and preach and argue the good word of their favorite political party and why they are. It's a farging historical mental and social scam controlled by gov't that has turned society against each other and into the sheep puppets they are today. Politics blow.

Exactly.  Maybe Biden is the "most honest" politician in DC, but that's like going into a brothel and saying that one girl is less whorey than the rest.

I agree with most of that. I don't claim any party, but what I can tell from Fox News, the Republican party is party of hate. I like their ideas on smaller government but couldn't live with their wanton desire to legislate morality.

I don't think you understood the context of my post.

As far as Munson goes, outside of politics talk, he's....eh, whatever.  Sometimes he posts funny pics in the Hippo thread.  But I think he's actually pretty informed when it comes to most issues other than his love of Biden.  Shocking, I know but the idiot kid seems to actually have grown up into a half intelligent person.

If Biden weren't from Delaware, I don't think he'd be jocking him as hard.

So it's good policy to be handing out 20 million dollar loans to your friend so he can establish a car dealership in Ukraine?   I'm pretty sure OPIC wasn't established to reward your cronies with money.
