not sure how many people have heard of the troy davis case....the guy facing execution in georgia whose case keeps getting denied because while almost all the witnesses against him have recanted...

anyway bob barr wrote an interesting op ed in the times yesterday...what makes it interesting is that barr was and is one of the most vocal supporters of the death penalty (hes also a complete POS)...he was also one of the key drafters of the anti terrorism and effective death penalty act....which turned the whole death penalty habeas world upside down....anyway how is there anyone still out there that would be for the death penalty much less more than half our country which is what most polls tell you

im not saying he hasnt flip flopped on anything but while reading that list i found my self laughing at the absurdity of some of it and the insignificance of other parts of it...then i got to the end and realized why...

I agree that stuff like NASA is insignificant on the surface, but if he was planning on using NASA money for education, that isn't insignificant at all. Plus, Obama more than most politicians has a following of people who think that he can do no wrong and is changing the world with his truthiness.

He's still a politician, loudly trumpeting his policy follow-throughs and quietly making unpopular flipflops in the mean time.

I'm not actually knocking him for it on any significant level. I'm just knocking his adoring followers who can see nothing but flowers, sunshine and astroglide every time he is brought up.

I fail to see how it is insignificant. If it was indeed genocide it should be recognized as such. The fact is that it is politically expedient to back off of those statements because he wants a Turkish/Muslim ally.

Like I said, I get why he's done it, and I'm not killing him for it, but to soften his stance to appease Turkey and make nice with a Muslim country is just a politician being a politician.
