No one gives a shtein about their privacy anymore. I had hoped that a new administration would take steps to reverse the trend of encroachment on our personal lives but so far Obama has done no such thing and it was silly of me to think that a large government party would ever take those kinds of steps. Big Brother is here and here to stay. Zombie apocalypse can't come fast enough.

This definitely belongs here...

The privacy issue is one that has been largely ignored up to this point, but it represents the biggest disappointment I have in the Obama administration to this point. It is unrealistic to expect an immediate repeal of the Patriot Act or a reversal of the steps taken to involve government in our personal lives, but at this point it isn't even a topic of conversation.

I have no problem with government being 'big' when it is trying to solve societal issues. I do have a problem with government using its 'big-ness' to peak into my life and tell me what I can and cannot do. Obama has sucked hind tit so far in that department.

Well, at least he's more than made up for it by fixing the economy and getting us out of the Middle East.

Of course you're trolling but it's still worth mentioning that the Administration is trying to address those issues in the ways that they see best. You can definitely argue about whether their methods are more or less effective than other strategies, but there is little doubt that they are at least trying to deal with them.

Regarding the whole Big Brother privacy stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if Bush and Obama know some things that we don't. Obama's not an idiot. For what other reasons would Obama make these decisions? You would think someone who is liberal and a Constitutional scholar wouldn't be very happy about these questionable practices. I don't think he is.

Apparently the photographs Obama changed his mind on are even worse than the others...

OF COURSE THEY KNOW THINGS THAT WE DON'T, you farging dolt. That doesn't justify a thing. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness imply a life that is not infringed upon by your government.

The Soviets and Nazis openly spied on their people and we railed for years about how that was exactly the kind of thing that America didn't do. It was part of the line that was drawn for decades to show that our country stood for something its people could be proud of. One of our Presidents spied on his political opponents and was run out of Washington in disgrace and is still considered a crook of the highest magnitude.

But now people are so used to a life of leisure and are so desperate to hold on to this suburban nightmare of a culture that we've created that they are willing to sign over their privacy and spy on their neighbors to remain 'safe'. Whether it's Bush or Obama leading the charge, it's farging un-American and it needs to be a bigger issue.

If there's anyone in the country I would want deciding whether some of these practices should temporarily continue it would be Obama. I'm not thrilled about it but I've lost no faith in him.

PA newspaper calls for Obama's assassination

WARREN, Pa. (AP) — A northwestern Pennsylvania newspaper is apologizing for running a classified advertisement calling for the assassination of President Barack Obama.

Warren Times Observer Publisher John Elchert says the ad appeared Thursday. It read, "May Obama follow in the steps of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy!" The four presidents were all assassinated.

Elchert tells The Associated Press that the newspaper's advertising staff didn't make the historical connection.

He says the newspaper turned information over to police and that the Secret Service is investigating the person who placed the ad.

A note in Friday's paper says the newspaper "apologizes for the oversight."
