QuoteBush might win another four years if not for term limits.

Wrong.

General_Failure

If he were going up against Kerry or Clinton, he'd probably win. If he were to run against Obama, he'd have to pull offsome very obvious cheating.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Quote
BERLIN (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told a German magazine he supported prospective U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal that U.S. troops should leave Iraq within 16 months.

In an interview with Der Spiegel released on Saturday, Maliki said he wanted U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq as soon as possible.

"U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes."

It is the first time he has backed the withdrawal timetable put forward by Obama, who is visiting Afghanistan and us set to go to Iraq as part of a tour of Europe and the Middle East.

Obama has called for a shift away from a "single-minded" focus on Iraq and wants to pull out troops within 16 months, instead adding U.S. soldiers to Afghanistan.

Oh, in that case, I completely change my opinion.  You've convinced me with your well thought-out counter-argument.

Thanks!

Four years ago when Bush defeated Kerry (in one of the closest elections in U.S. history) he had a 48% approval rating....

http://www.hist.umn.edu/~ruggles/Approval.htm

He now has a 28% approval rating. At this point Bush would be beaten by Daffy Duck.

Approval ratings don't mean dick.  There's an old axiom in politics that states that 40% of the electorate votes Democrat, another 40% votes Republican and the rest is up for grabs.

If Bush ran against Obama, how many frightened racist white people would choose not to change horses midstream and vote for the white guy?

Hell, McCain is utter garbage and he's going to run a neck and neck race with Obama in November, and he doesn't have the advantage of running as an incumbent like Bush would if he was permitted to run again.

For all the blather about Americans' lust for "change" at its heart this country longs for the comfort and stability offered by the status quo, and trust me, the elite in this country have done exceedingly well under Bush.  Nothing would please them more than another four years of that clown.

An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Polls mean nearly everything. We have a big official one every four years. If the election of 2004 were held six or eight months later John Kerry would be our president.

Nearly all racist white people voted for Bush in 2004 and would have voted this way whether the Democratic candidate was white or black.

Whether the 2008 Obama would have beaten the 2004 Bush isn't the question. When Obama is elected in 2008 will it be because of "change" or because he's a charismatic leader? I'd say both.

rjs246

I saw today that the latest Gallup poll had Obama leading 45% to 43%. That's statistically insignificant.
