The New Yorker is worse than FoxNews?  Impossible.

It's possible to take satire too far?

Do you ever have any idea what you're talking about, or do you always let your ass lead the way and make your brain follow?

General_Failure

Dumb white people, then. And some dumb black people that don't think he's black enough. And maybe an Asian kid that only got a B in math.

The man. The myth. The legend.

MDS

its actually a decent cover, stop being pansies america
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Diomedes

it's quite good...satire is too sublime for the idiots who comprise 95% of this awful nation

It's simple, really:

It's not offensive to intelligent people, who completely understand the intent.
It will make dumbasses on the right say, "I told you so."
It will make dumbasses on the left bitch and moan about racism and political incorrectness.

General_Failure

Dumbasses don't look at magazines that don't have celebrity photos on the cover.

The man. The myth. The legend.

I agree that people who read the magazine will take the picture as it is intended, but you know that this will be an attachment to all the "OMGZ! Barack Osama Husayne iz Muzlum!!11!?!?1" spam that is going out.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Diomedes

John McCain from today:  ""I was concerned about a couple of steps that the Russian government took in the last several days. One was reducing the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia. Apparently that is in reaction to the Czech's agreement with us concerning missile defense...."

Ah, Czechoslovakia.  The last time a country with that name existed, it was new years eve 1992.

Also, for anyone who wants a statement from Obama on what his position is regarding the Iraq war, see if this op-ed printed in the NYTimes today satisfies you...don't worry, it's pretty short.

"Czech Republic" is so boring.  I prefer to call them Russia Jr.

who cares

those people were never voting for obama anyway...they are lunatics who are beyond help and the new yorker cover will change nothing as far as they are concerned...

imo if the cover changes anyone it will be the semi intelligent people that are out there who believe hes a muslim...i mentioned this on the board before but my girls sister has a graduate degree grew up in washington dc and makes over 100k a year and isnt sure if hes a muslim or not...i mean shes even democrat...its people like this who maybe the over the top sarcastic nature of the cover could cause them to think how ridiculous they are being
