Pigs do taste good.

And lol @ reese and his outlandish hypothetical situations.

Also, under no circumstances what-so-ever would I ever throw a bag of perfectly good Fritos.

I'm just glad the post made it.  Literally as soon as I hit the submit post button all of the power went out in my building for a split second and then came back on.  But it was just long enough to force an automatic reboot of my computer.

That was no coincidence. Cheney and his elite team of Blackwater men are on their way to your building right now.

I would rather suffer an attack then give up freedoms that would most likely never be given back. Freedom is not free.

20 years down the line when those freedoms are being abused by some shmuck with a bad comb over is no good for anyone.

I think you've nailed it right there. There are people who are scared of eing attacked and there are people who are scared of losing their rights. Those who are scared of being attacked line up to revoke whatever rights they must to 'protect' themselves from attack. Which, to me, is small minded insanity but which seems to make sense to a lot of people.

I consider the money I earn being taken away and distributed without my permission to also be a revocation of my freedoms.

Use that money to hire better accountants.

As a likely cause of death, terrorism is at the bottom of the list.  The government could save more lives by shutting down McDonalds.

There are many more people whose lives are affected every day by the pointless and invasive "anti-terrorism" measures.  Citizens and legal residents whose personal lives are scrutinized and categorized.  They may not show up on a watch list today, but wait until that book they read (got a library card?) or that TV show they watch (got a TiVo?) or that cause they donate to (got a credit card?) is classified as subversive.

Terrorists do not act to kill the people they attack.  They act to disrupt the lives of those who survive the attack, who were never even near the attack.  Bin Laden is sitting in his hole, laughing his ass off because the 9/11 mission could have not achieved a greater success.  Not for the 3000 people who died that day, but the damage that has been done to the American way of life in the 7 years since.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

of course i see people on the internet like reese who are worried about a terrorist attack but i literally have never met one person whether casually or a close friend or relative that is the least bit concerned about being killed in a terrorist attack...and i take two different forms of public transportation to a job in downtown washington dc everyday...i just cant fathom this being a top five worry for the average cicitzen

it seems to me the people most worried about terrorist attacks live in nebraska montana or mississippi which is something ill never understand

You'll never find a situation in this country where you get to pick and choose where your tax money goes and you'll never live in a country without taxes.

The tax laws badly need to be reformed and a compelling argument can be made to eliminate the IRS and start over with a new model, but whining about the government's use of our tax money is an impotent waste of time.

Vote for Bob Barr.

Much in the same respect, whining about the zesty health care the government provides you (not to mention the salary of anyone in the health care field sucking wind) will be regarded as impotent if Obama gets his way.

You are a fake Libertarian.  Fake. Fake. Fake.

Please tell me where I said that I am worried about a terrorist attack. Im gonna call you Chubby Checkers from now on twister boy--you're a trip.

I live my life the same way every single day, carefree-- no matter what happens in this country. I also am a firm believer in chance and probability. That being said, its pretty easy--the probability of me being physically scarred by a terrorist attack are nathanson.

The chances any of you red, white and blue underwear wearing pretenders like you and Sgt Slaughter are affected in this lifetime by international phone tapping laws that need warrants are even more remote and laughable. So on a RJS note: why are you still talking about this?
