Is there a faster rising Democrat star than Cory Booker? I wish he were mayor of Philly although Nutter isn't awful.

QuoteBarack Obama approaches his nomination for a second term with the lowest pre-convention personal popularity of an incumbent president in ABC News/Washington Post polls since the 1980s. He's also at his lowest of the year among registered voters, with trouble among women.

Just 47 percent of registered voters in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll see Obama favorably overall, down 7 percentage points from his recent peak in April, while 49 percent rate him unfavorably. He's numerically underwater in this group for the first time since February.

See PDF with full results, charts and tables here.

The decline has occurred entirely among women registered voters – from 57-39 percent favorable-unfavorable in April to a numerically negative 46-50 percent now. That's Obama's lowest score among women voters – a focus of recent political positioning – in ABC/Post polls since he took office. Unusually, his rating among men, 50-47 percent favorable-unfavorable, is numerically better than it is among women, albeit not by a significant margin.

The result is not the only sign of the work ahead for Obama among women. In a separate ABC/Post poll last week, he led Romney among women registered voters in vote preference by just 6 points, 49-43 percent. In 2008, Obama won women by 13 points, 56-43 percent. [\quote]

They don't care enough to know

The real problem is that people don't know enough to care.

Quote"The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay."

According to a 2009 Quinnipiac poll, 72 percent of voters oppose public funding of abortion and 23 percent support it. In other words, public funding of abortion--a policy President Obama actively supports--is as unpopular as banning abortion in the case of rape, a policy on which the media have focused much attention over the past two weeks despite the fact that neither presidential candidate supports it.
What happened to safe, legal, and rare??

72 percent of voters oppose public funding of abortion, but Republicans have an extreme view of abortion?

Martin O'Malley might be ahead of Booker.

According to Munson, the country is better off than four years ago.   According to O'Malley it is not.  Who is telling the truth?

There's a dramatic difference in wanting your fed govt to provide funding for abortions vs wanting abortions to be legal.

I don't think abortions should be funded by the govt and I think taking a wire hangar to a fetus should be legal.

That was complicated.

"Regardless of ability to pay" was added to the platform.  "Rare" was removed from the platform.

Everyone here would be fully in favor of your retroactive abortion.

QuoteCHARLOTTE, N.C.–The Democratic Party platform doesn't state that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, a change from prior years that could provide fuel to critics who say President Barack Obama's commitment to Israel is weak.

"President Obama and the Democratic Party maintain an unshakable commitment to Israel's security," begins the 70-page platform in a section titled "The Middle East." The three-paragraph section details the Obama administration's support for Israel—including boosting security assistance—but says nothing about Jerusalem.

I'd rather the federal government funded abortions than free food and shelter for abandoned, farged up children and prisons for them after they reach the age of majority.

It's one or the other, folks.

Prisons it is, then. All the way up. Skip the foster system and put those unwanted kids to work immediately making clothes hangers.
