I didn't watch but this piece from Politico citing conservative heads contends it was a poor performance.

Here is a question, if the economy recovers (little if) and Obama is successful in cutting the deficit (big if), what is the Republican platform in 2012? Their claim to fiscal responsibility will be dead in the water, won't it? It would almost have to come down to smaller individual issues (like abortion and gun control in the past), right?

If Obama can lay claim to fiscal and personal responsibility I don't know how the Republican party will be able to even compete for the Presidency.

Just because something failed doesn't mean they won't try it again. And, as I said earlier, if Obama is a shoe-in, and Palin isn't offered up (being saved for 2016 instead) I'll be worried.

Palin won't have nearly the same hotness factor in 2016, she's going to have the old-lady-queef syndrome starting. Also, while she'll probably have all the right wing talking points down by then she's still going to be unintelligent. Then again, Bush pulled it off.
