Some young dude lit me up in my last lacrosse game. Hit me square in the ribs, hard enough to strain my back and sprain my ankle in the process. Probably for the best since I was playing like a handicapped chimpanzee this season but the idea of not being able to exercise is a little upsetting given my fondness for binge drinking.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Ouch - next time you see him accidentally thump his sack with your lacrosse stick

Pretty sure I tore my quads in softball yesterday. Up all night and going to urgent care soon. I'm still in my mid 20s. Aging really doesn't happen gracefully, huh

Zanshin

I thought I was beating the age thing. It was smooth sailing. When 40 hit, I didn't blink an eye...didn't matter. The idea of turning 40 wasn't a problem at all. My wife, though, she lost her mind when she hit 40. Her mid-life crisis hit me like a freight train. No joke, that's what aged me. I swear, I think I've aged at least 10 years in the last 4. I wish I was kidding, too.

I have forearm tendonitis. My buddy said to rest it and ice it and massage the lower part to loosen fibers because tendons don't get much blood flow. It's been a problem for 2 months. I keep working out despite it killing me thinking it'll just magically go away.

Been on a self destructive drinking binge lately. Last night was a bad one. Hope you're all doing well. I'm down 30 lbs this year.

Dude that was the start for me....I have ridiculous tendinosis in my bicep tendon. Bunch of micro tears that they can't operate on. Did physical therapy for a month, nothing helped. I have an elbow sleeve that helps a little, but direct bicep work is out of the question, same with a lot of back stuff, including pull ups. I'm as heavy as I've been in years, and that injury doesn't help. Been riding a bike more....but, it's not the same.

SD

I can deal with the pain, I just don't want it to get worse to where I mess something up. I stopped doing Bi's altogether too but still do back and always cardio. My problem is I'll go a few days with little discomfort or pain then think I'm ok and it kills again.

Zanshin

It's an overuse injury. Mine feels great, right up until I have to use it. Try a compression sleeve for your elbow. It'll definitely help. Takes some of the pressure off of the tendon.

That's what you get for working your glamour muscles.

Since we're all bitching about things, I had spent the last year or so in really excellent shape. Strong, fast, drinking gargantuan quantities of beer without any weight gain. Then I broke my ribs and couldn't work out vigorously at all. Then I acquired some mystery ailment that destroyed my appetite for a week. Now I'm back under 170 pounds with almost no muscle anywhere. And my farging ribs haven't healed yet so I can't even do anything about it. Wah.

I think I need to go on your diet plan.

I've been working out religiously this year...5-7 days a week and I think maybe one week this year I only got 4 workouts in. I was gaining muscle but losing body fat at a slow rate. About Mid May I decided to alter my diet. I bought Optimum whey all natural protein. Honestly the stuff kills my appetite and I don't have to worry about starving my muscles because it's protein. That was my issue is I hated doing weights then not feeling like I'm not giving them enough protein, so I'd eat like shtein on occasion. Once I added the protein that went away. I slimmed down big time and my muscles are a lot harder.

Nice. I'm meant RJS's plan, which sounds easier.

That said, after my vacation I'll suck it up and get back at it the old fashioned way, as you've outlined.

I know I was just giving you what worked for me.

A lot of the working out stuff for me is mental. I need it in my life to keep going. Even on vacation I get up early and work out.

Zanshin

Mental is a big part of it. I'm excellent at two things: Losing weight and Gaining weight. Maintaining I kind of suck at.

Zanshin

...and by "kind of," I mean "completely."
