He just guaranteed he'll be hit by a blue-haired snowbird driving a Cadillac the day before his 40th birthday.

Haha, remember when we all used to post in this thread?

Anyway, I came to a realization about six months ago that when I'm not exercising regularly I am miserable. And when I'm miserable I'm really excellent at making the people around me miserable. So now, in addition to being a vain 37 year old who can't accept the aging process, apparently my mental health (such as it is) is also subject to staying active. So now I work out almost daily.

I returned to the Tim Ferriss muscle-building routine, but am mixing in regular running, bootcamps and kettlebell workouts to keep the bulk down. All of which is great except that I am also still drinking truly heroic quantities of beer meaning that I basically look exactly the same as I always have.

In summary, working out is lame and mental health is overrated. Beer, on the other hand, is wonderful.

Also, one of my fit icehole friends introduced me to something called the burpee-pullup. It's exactly as awful as it sounds.

i was getting myself back into shape from the winter and at the end of March i severely sprained my ankle playing basketball.  I was on crutches for a week and it's still not right.  After a round of golf or a lot of walking it still swells up and I still can't run on it.  In the meanwhile I gained like 15 lbs from not doing anything active, so that's fun for me

I blew out my left ankle when I was 32 and it took me almost 3 months before I could play again. What I remember most was it taking an hour to get home driving a standard.

SunMo

yeah, it's crazy how long it's taken.  i thought for sure i broke it the way it hurt and i couldn't put weight on it the first few days but the xrays came back negative.

That sounds like scar tissue, Sunny.  I had the same issue.  They had to go in there and clear it out because it kept swelling up.  Doesn't show up on the x-ray either.  The MRI caught it, though.

Eagaholic

For me it was probably a year until I could comfortably sit or kneel on that ankle but eventually it was good as new with no lasting effects. Sometimes it's worse when the connective tissue goes that if the bone had broken instead.

i blew out both my ankles two times each when i was younger. my left two times courtesy of playing high school baseball on philly fields. olney & bartrum.

still, i healed up pretty quickly. twisted my ankle two years ago and it took forever to heal ... getting old and fat sucks.

Yep - all those shots to the knees plus surfing royally farged my knee.   Thank God for Aleve.

This sounds like a slippery slope towards crossfit.

I'm still plugging away five days a week on my fake bowflex. I've got my bench press up to 330 lbs (because that's all it goes up to), 3 sets of 12. I'm curious what that would be in real weight numbers, but not enough to, like, go to a gym or something.
