No, just people who think they're smart, which is the same reason I watch Community.

The man. The myth. The legend.

tremes ratings are a disaster...even worse than the wire. no one watches it, no one cares about it, it doesnt win any awards. it does get good reviews though.

basically its still on, and was made in the first place, because david simon is david simon. hbo wants to be in the david simon business. so theyre putting up with treme (and giving him 5 hours to wrap up the show while burying it in december) so he get on to the next thing and make another show that resonates with the audience like the wire did.

i actually like the show a lot. the 3rd season was as good as anything i saw this year.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Rome

The Wire resonated with about 35 people.  It was a show about crooked pigs and inner city thugs.  That's why it got zesty ratings and now that its over every douchebag wannabe tv critic on the planet praises it.

Shut up about it already

Oh.  Thought I heard somewhere that it was pretty similar to The Wire, just set in NOLA.

Rome

The Wire is a great series.  No doubt about it.  The level of fan boy fanaticism it inspires among devotees is absurd to the point of idiocy.   They're like Star Trek nerds without the uniforms and makeup.

The farg are you talking about?  I dress like Bubbles every single day, foo!

the wire is unique in that it has an obsessive fanbase AND its universally agreed upon by critics as being the best show of all time...and when that's the case how can you really say the fandom is idiotic....doesn't that pretty much justify it?

its also amazing that a realistic drama can have such a following....usually the things that have fanbases like the wires are about goblins and sorcerers...or spaceships...or werewolves....the wire is about real life

Something tells me that the Wire does not equal life for the area I grew up in.

yeah thats the problem

not to pick on geo because hes a good dude but people could give two flying fargs that stillupfronts are getting killed by the barrel load in the ghetto

the wire is about whats going on around the way and WHY it matters but doesnt actually because politicians, the media and humanity as a whole have their own agendas. when the reaction of people who havent seen it is "oh well its not applicable to my life," well...you get selfish oafish americans who live off of the dollar menu and vote republican

cities are dying, people are dying, humanity is suffering...but i dont care, ive got other things to do.

even I cant blame it just on republicans tho....there were billions of democrats that didn't watch it either....altho as time has passed more of them are on board...but initially it had a lot more to do with the fact that it was big east coast inner city....hipster dios brother who works in a food truck in portland or johnny factory worker in Peoria wasnt watching the wire

then as you know far better than me hbo had a lot to do with it....their promotion of the show was abominable

even tho if I remember correctly wasn't it on at 9 before the sopranos?
