the bottom bottom line is this, if i ever inherit 1 billion dollars, i'm going to buy this farging team, and none of you will be happy with the results.

Thank you.  I laughed.  If I become a multi-billionaire, I'll be sure to put you in my will.

Sometimes I get mad at Lurie's mad fat hair follicles because I wish that they were mine.

You can't have hair like his unless you too were seperated at birth from Larry of the 3 Stooges.

All this bitching about Banner makes me laugh. He isn't even involved in anything the Eagles do regarding the actual game played on the field. Farg him. As for him ripping the fans, take into account the source. He's an asswhipe.

As for Lurie, he's a great owner, when compared to Norman Bramen and Tose. I remember Braman sitting on his ass while one of the best defenses this league has ever seen was torn apart. How do you let the one of the greatest defensive players ever (RW) just walk?

Some people either are too young to remember, or just have short memories, otherwise you would see how good the fans in Philly actually have it now.

for real....seriously what in hell are you talking about....the fans like lurie quite a bit...lurie showed to be a little full of himself and delusional with the gold standard comment but what millionaire isnt...other than that i rarely ever hear much venom go towards lurie...hes easily the most liked eagle owner of the last 40 years

I wasn't saying what I thought, I was restating what Banner said.  Again - I don't see what about that statement pisses you off.

Quote- Lurie kept the team in the city, in spite of a crappy stadium deal
and he got a a nice amount of public funds towards the project...much more than some other owners got for their stadiums...so what are you saying?

No, what Lurie got from Philly sucked compared to the other owners, which was why he was able to take operation of the stadium away from the city.  You could argue that is what he wanted anyway, but that is not the point.

dont you live in greenland or somewhere....you are clearly out of touch with what is going on
farg off - I moved out of SunMo's back yard 5 months ago.

My original post was intended to try to dissect what Banner said and try to figure out what got you so riled up.  I still can't see it - none of what he said applies to you are fans in general.  Maybe you can enlighten us.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Wow... 8 pages... yeah I'm not reading all this.

I'll summarize:

IGY:  OMG, my PMS is killing me.  I can't help but being oversensative like a little girl.
Everyone else:  STFU, Nancyboy.

...Then it sort of gets redundant from there.

I feel like I contributed some important nuggets to this thread that deserve some mention. I'm hurt.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

I just read this entire thread in one sitting, and believe I can help.

RJS: I'd like to put on a wig and a Larry Fine mustache, and use Reno Mahe's erection like a Joe Banner Q-tip.

Does that help?

Well, the mental image helped me vomit, so, thanks, I guess.

More room for beer, you're welcome.

Now, stay out of the ER this weekend, Rome.   ;)

I'd like to see IGY go on The Surreal Life with Andy Reid, Joe Banner and Chris Webber. That would make a great reality show.

From a team's perspective they have no incentive to stay in big market areas because the TV revenue is shared among all the teams, unlike the major leagues where teams have licensing agreements with local affiliates to broadcast games so teams get to keep virtually all the revenue they earn through their broadcasting deals. NFL teams don't have that same luxury (teams do have exclusive broadcasting rights for pre-season, but that is hardly a substantial revenue generator). That's why it is difficult for the NFL to get a team to move to LA because there really isn't any added benefit to that franchise for re-locating there.

So whether you're in a 'small market' or 'big market', a team receives a 1/32nd of the total broadcast revenues -- it doesn't matter if you're New York or Tampa Bay.

So the real kicker to get teams to move are stadium deals because teams get to keep all the revenue generated from those stadiums. That's why teams are lured by 'smaller markets' because if you can move to an area that can sell out 70,000 seats a game for 8 weeks you're golden.

Anyways, Banner is probably right that they could have gotten a better deal somewhere else. But the comment is probably inappropriate at this juncture. They made the deal, it's done with, move on.
